Parking in Greenwich

Hello! We're spending a day in Greenwich this week (me, 16yo dd and 11yo ds). Any recommendations of where to park?

Plans are for maritime museum and then some shopping. I'd like to see the market but them maybe we go the O2 outlet. Does that sound like a good idea? Should we park somewhere close to the museum and then in the O2?

Any suggestions for other things to do also welcome!

TIA

Where are you starting out from? With most places in central London , including Greenwich, parking is expensive. Unless someone in your group needs to be driven I suggest you park further away and use public transport to get into Greenwich ( which is lovely btw) .For another day out in the area can I recommend Eltham Palace?

Ps don’t forget to walk under the river in the foot tunnel!

Thanks! Just booked the maritime museum and you can add parking 10am to 5pm for £10 which I think is pretty reasonable 🙂.

So only need recommendations for shopping!

And just looked at the tunnel- we'll definitely do that, thank you!

We parked at the 02 recently and then you can either get the bus or uberboat (tfl) to the curry sark etc. We paid £19 to park all day but you can redeem that if you spend £30 in the shops at the 02 so if you are likely to buy something there then it could work out a good option

Findahouse21 · 14/02/2022 11:37

As for other stuff to do, if youvve already paid for the boat trip then it's a really lovely way to see some lovely sights and not too expensive. You can just go down the river as far as you like and then come back. Last boat left at about 11pm

Thanks! Boat trip sounds like it may go down well!

There is pay and display parking in Greenwich park...then you can walk down through the park to the maritime museum.

The O2 is not really walking distance from there though.

I went two weekends ago and parked in the park, it was perfect.

LaCerbiatta · 15/02/2022 16:36

Thanks all! the double pie sounds yummy!

Although the weather couldn't be any worse with the gales and rain 🙁

Parking in Greenwich is an exorbitant nightmare so if you have found a days parking for a tenner that's a good deal!

greenwich23 · 15/02/2022 19:31

What time are you getting there? Before 10am you’re very likely to find a space on Charlton Way, on the Blackheath side of the park. Free Saturday and Sunday, not allowed other days. Maze Hill is 80p every 15min, but max 2 hours www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/info/200263/parking_and_permits/344/parking_meter_charges

Inside the park on Blackheath Avenue is 35p every 15min, or 50p on Sunday. But that’s max 4hrs.

If I were you I would park on Blackheath Avenue, or Charlton Way and see the museum. Then treat O2 as separate and go there by car. You have four hours free parking there if you spend £35 www.iconattheo2.co.uk/offer/free-parking/ .

Have fun!
