Our holiday’s ruined, isn’t it?

We fly to Italy tomorrow for 5 days. DH just realised that he only has 2 months left before his passport expires.

He’s fucked isn’t he, or has anyone been let in with less than the 3 month rule? Help!

They are unlikely to let him fly ....but.....it depends on the oetsin checking the passports at the gate. They might not look closely coming back in it's fine. So fingers crossed. I would just chance It but be prepared

If he flys out....chances are he won’t get to fly back....say you’ve got Covid and change your flights to later on in year

mumofthree22 · 13/02/2022 23:41

@Lolliepoppie has the passport date not been flagged up on the passenger locator form that I presume you have filled out already?

TheTeenageYears · 13/02/2022 23:59

The problem is not only do you have to hope he can get through check in but also at passport control the other end which would be massively stressful. Can you go alone with the DC or is there a family member or friend who can now book the same flight and come with you?

BluebellsGreenbells · 14/02/2022 00:03

Have you check the date properly? He can’t use any extension that might be on there so technically it could be out of date already.

Geamhradh · 14/02/2022 08:52

He's likely to be allowed out as apart from the API form you've already filled in, there's no border control on exit- from the UK. Your ppt is checked by the airline staff, not border control. On entry to Italy it may be flagged up. Can you pay a shitload of money and get a same day renewal? Do they exist at all? They used to- you could go in person to the ppt office.

RedRec · 14/02/2022 16:28

Did you make it, OP?

rifling · 15/02/2022 12:19

Hopefully she's enjoying her holiday and isn't thinking about mumsnet! I'm curious too though!

Shinebright21 · 01/07/2022 10:48

Any update @Lolliepoppie ?

I am in a very similar situation, and wondered what your outcome was.

i hope you got to enjoy the holiday!

Sadly DH was turned away at check in. The airline did everything they could (escalated it to the manager etc) but ultimately they didn’t let him fly. 😔

That’s a shame
I hope you can rebook and/or find something else to do here

Hoppinggreen · 01/07/2022 13:37

Hope you DID rather as this is from Feb
