Does anyone here rent an office just for themselves?

I’m thinking about renting an office in a serviced block nearby.

Apart from visiting clients I work from home every day and have done for the last four years. I suddenly feel desperate for actual space that I can call my own outside of the house - to help with work life balance, focus time, and just be able to set up a space for everything.

The cost of rent on the place I’ve found equates to 5 hours of work, so it feels affordable (no hidden costs). It’s only 10 min drive away.

Not sure if I’m overthinking but interested in others experiences of doing this.

I have a studio despite mostly very much not being a studio photographer (mainly brand/business so I go to my clients' spaces instead), and I have a lovely home office (and live alone Blush), and I still reckon it's the best money I spend every month. I put a little desk in one corner, and while I don't use it as often as I'd like it's so lovely to have dedicated workspace away from home! And I know some of the others in the building really relish being able to do their own thing in terms of decor in theirs which they can't at home. Plus people to chat to!

If you're confident rent isn't going to be hideous then I'd go for it Grin

I would love to do this! I say go for it.

I don't but a good friend and her husband do and they find it great. They live in a flat and are both self-employed in roles that - in Covid times at least - are mainly being performed from home. The office enables them to separate work and home better, both physically and mentally (and sometimes to also get a break from each other!). I'd say go for it if you can afford it.

@hilariousnamehere ah that’s so good to hear your experience. Sounds faintly bonkers but I just like the thought of actually seeing people daily - even to just say good morning to - and getting in the car and being able to to pop to the shops etc on my way to and from.

@AchillesPoirot I’ll let you know! Going for another visit this week Grin

@Sagegreenvelvet it also makes me actually leave the house and often do a grocery run on the way back. But for me one of the biggest bonuses is the people!
