Someone just threw at egg at my house

Im so shocked. I heard a bang and ran to the Window but street was deserted. I live in a very nice street in a very nice town. I’ve obviously led a very sheltered life but have never experienced anything like this. It’s not Halloween. Is this a thing that bored teenagers do? Will they come back? Should I hide behind the curtains with a dozen Tesco’s organic and give them as good as they got? Next challenge how to get egg yolk off a first floor sash window.

Oh! I’d be very upset. I hope it’s a one-off.
You are taking it very well! Star

Thankyou I hope so too. I’m trying to think if I have any enemies and this is targeted but I really don’t think so. The irony is that we are out of eggs and wanted scrambled eggs for supper. I have a fairly relaxed attire to germs but even I cannot scrape egg off window to reuse

You don't think there's a chance it was dropped by a bird?

I don't mean laying it as it flew over, I mean a bird that eats eggs that was carrying it and dropped it.

ViaRia · 13/02/2022 17:54

I’ve had this a couple of times. I was really upset the first time and worried we would become a target (for no particular reason other than I forgives that might be how the minds of egg-throwers might work).

Anyway, I think in 8 years it’s happened about three times, including once when it was Halloween.

A real pain and I’m sorry this has happened to you this evening. I think, don’t worry/ assume it will keep on happening weekly or anything like that. A crap thing happened to you but don’t assume it will continue to happen.

Not sure about your sash window but, from my experience, try to get it off tonight while it’s still wet if you can.

TenPenceMix · 13/02/2022 17:59

Use cold water to rinse it first!

butterflyfox · 13/02/2022 18:01

@caranations I did think of that but it was a very big egg. Chicken size at least. @ViaRia I am trying to avoid going outside in the rain and dark to direct a hose at the window both because I’m cozy Inside and I fear I will look like a tit but I think you might be right. Thankyou for the suppport

It would be worth seeing if anyone else has been done too. Do you have a local Facebook page ?

OhFuckBloodyHell · 13/02/2022 18:04

If it's a sash, are you able to position the sashes so you can reach out the window to pour water over it? If it sticks on it'll be a bugger to get off.

You don't have a car outside do you? My BF when I was a teen got egged driving his car. It took the paint off in circles where the shells broke and hit the paint.

Arepeoplereallycoolaboutthis · 13/02/2022 18:13

When I was 19 two middle aged men drove past me at around 8.30am and threw an egg right at me and drove off laughing. It was random and I'm sure I wasn't the only one they targeted that day. Some people are just c*s. Hope you're ok OP.

AnxiousHeffalump · 13/02/2022 18:16

I was walking the dog once when a car full of young men slowed alongside me, shouting ‘fat c*nt’ and chucked eggs at me.

butterflyfox · 13/02/2022 21:18

@Arepeoplereallycoolaboutthis and @AnxiousHeffalump. How awful I’m so sorry you both had to experience that. Puts my egging in proportion.
