And if so how? I got one of those supermarket ones, but then remembered I had one before and it didn't last long.

The ex gifted me one from Morrisons for my bday 3 years ago, managed to keep it going for 2 yrs so long outlasted our relationship!..apparently the key was to mist it with water every couple of days.

@Boopeedoop

Yep. Don't over water them.

I kill everything normally. Orchids seem to like me neglecting them!

Yep this is me. Orchids are the only thing I keep alive because I basically ignore them.

Try one from M&S

@user1471447924 don't cut the spike off , once the orchid has flowered leave the spike and it will re flower from there . Only cut the spike when it goes dried like a twig . Then a new one will grow
Water when flowering by submerging for 5mins in lukewarm water then drain and don't water again for a couple of weeks .

One of mine has grown a new plant from a spike, I don't know what to do with that, anyone?

MidnightMeltdown · 13/02/2022 20:06

Mine was extremely unhappy until I put it in the bathroom. I think it likes the humidity and is now flowering like mad.

MidnightMeltdown · 13/02/2022 20:11

In fact I thought that it might be dead before I put it in the bathroom as it hadn't flowered in 2 years. They are very good at playing dead.

Smallkeys · 13/02/2022 20:17

It’s a shame how many orchids get tossed once they stop flowering but as other people say keep them out of sight and then they will flower again .

HazelBite · 13/02/2022 20:36

Mine love the bathroom. Five years plus. and they each flower twice a year. Absolutely thrive on neglect and a little bottled water once a fortnight.
However I had the TV on this am and was half watching Alan Titchmarsh who had an orchid expert on who said not to trim the stems!
