Lines in the ceiling - photo attached

I'm about to paint the ceiling in my living room - but what can I do about these lines (maybe old cracks?)

It's a 1970's flat which hasn't been modernised in years.

Sand them down first?

Or something else?

Pah, just paint over it, how often are you going to be staring at the ceiling Grin, actually don't answer that

I just had a plasterer come and fix the same issue in my living room. He added some special mesh that joins the joins together correctly. It would probably be easy enough to do yourself.

If you just paint over it, it will happy again

Thanks - I ended up messaging a school mum friend whose husband is a painter & decorator - his advice was to run over the surface of it with a wallpaper scraper then sand it down.

I'll then paint it in Matt paint as it's currently an awful shiny paint which shows every flaw.
