Is Tapestry one of the best albums ever?

Im just watching BBC2 Carole King Natural Woman its brilliant. It must be up there in my top five albums. Brings back such memories of my mum listening to it constantly after another fall out with my dad. Then of course in my twenties it a late night to go to in my student digs. So talented and Joni Mitchel was recording Blue next door😯 will we ever see such musicians again? I loved that hippy vibe of the 70’s.

Yes I love it.

TeddyTonks · 12/02/2022 21:58

Yes, I love it, it's timeless. Think it was recorded before I was born but definitely in my top 5 albums.

Shmithecat2 · 12/02/2022 21:59

It's up there.

It's a wonderful album. I too have Carole King on at the moment.

LethargeMarg · 12/02/2022 22:00

I love the big American singer songwriters of the 70s- Carole king, James Taylor, Carly Simon .

TeddyTonks · 12/02/2022 22:01

Just googled it, was released over 15 years before I was born 😱

Not sure if the fact I love it so much is reflective of how good it is or how dire some modern stuff is.

Divebar2021 · 12/02/2022 22:02

Definitely a great album. I have Tapestry and Blue on vinyl although my favourite album of all time is Fleetwood Macs Rumours.

He was so handsome. Im always fascinated by how these people meet and gel so well to produce such amazing music. She also looks fabulous. I wonder if having a young family grounded her?

Also watching...now James Taylor in concert- beautiful...but yes a lot of serious drugs.

EachandEveryone · 12/02/2022 22:36

It must've been hard as a woman artist touring with all those blokes

One of the few albums I never tire of playing, love it.

Seemslikeagoodidea · 12/02/2022 22:42

Yes, it's a classic.

Rhannion · 12/02/2022 23:01

Yes , it’s wonderful, absolute classic & watching James Taylor now.

longwayoff · 12/02/2022 23:02

Beautiful is a stage show about Carole and her music. The sheer quantity of songs she both wrote and performed over decades is astonishing and you'll know every one. If it comes to a theatre near you, it's sheer pleasure. Can't recommend it highly enough. And Tapestry is her masterpiece.

LemonViolet · 12/02/2022 23:03

Best. Album. Ever

Saw her perform the whole album Hyde Park a few years ago, one of the top gigs ever of my life, massive privilege to be there.

Turmerictolly · 12/02/2022 23:13

She is such a talented music maker and has. such breadth. Great to see the pictures of her with Joni Mitchell and James Taylor - all favourites I come back to time and again. She seems to have come out of that era relatively unscathed too. Seems like she always sought a simpler life.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/02/2022 23:38

I saw this too , just wonderful. Tapestry seemed to be the backdrop to my childhood along with Cat Stevens Smile

NeedWineNow · 12/02/2022 23:49

It's a fabulous album. I had it on while I was working yesterday.

LemonViolet · 13/02/2022 07:19

Think it’ll accompany my weekly cleanup today :-)

For a long while, Beautiful was my “theme song” for getting up in the morning!

Whattodo121 · 13/02/2022 07:22

I was listening to this on the way to work this week! One of my all time top fave albums.

LefttoherownDevizes · 13/02/2022 07:35

Me too, always turn to her, James Taylor if I need some comfort.

Went to the Hyde Park concert a few years ago with James supporting Paul Simon (sure je could grate himself but very grateful to see both).

It was boiling hot and was with my big brother, mum and dad (I 40s he 50). Feels like a lifetime ago

Definitely desert island album. Anyone know Hammond Song by the Roches? Fits right in

My three all time favourite albums!

I find that now I listen using Spotify rather than cds, the way I listen to music has changed, I tend to listen to playlists rather than albums from start to finish, but there are some albums, like Tapestry which just have to be listened to as an album experience.
