What genre of books do you enjoy and do you have any good book recommendations? I'm running low on books and looking to get outside of my comfort zone when it comes to books because I always tend to stick to authors I know

Ciaran McMenamin - brilliant historical fiction although his new one will be set in current times
He narrates his own audiobooks and they are awesome

Another long gone author,
E. F. Benson, esp. the Mapp and Lucia series and Paying Guests. Some of my go-to comfort reads (re-reads)

ArabellaStrange · 13/02/2022 07:18

I am obsessed with the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordon. I have read it five times. It's a 14 book series and each book averages 700 hundred pages. So that could keep you going for a while.
I am currently reading the second book in a trilogy called the Kingkillers trilogy by Patrick Rothfuss. Tis enjoyable.

Some of my favourites already listed, but I like a thriller with a historical look back. I wish I had more time to read, as I tend to just read on holiday.
Dan Brown - read all of them
Rebecca De Maurier - couldn't put Jamaica Inn down, so keen to read more of hers.
Kate Mosse, read Winter Ghosts on a atmospheric beach, and again, keen to read more.
Michael Sierton, he is little know as a novelist but was a highly respected film set designer, so his style is visual. Couldn't put Boy in a Red Boat down.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the first couple of Sherlock Holmes.
I've never actually read JK Rowling, but will still list her as she taught my children not to be afraid of picking up a novel, when school were still giving them Biff and Chip! My DC have quite a library now of different books which I love rummaging through. Thats where I got Jamaica in and Sherlock Holmes from.
For short a short story collection, I am reading Murder in Midwinter, which has short stories by crime writer such as Ruth Rendell, ACD etc.
