GHIC/EHIC for people with Settled Status?

Has anyone with Settled Status been successful in getting a new GHIC or EHIC card? The NHS business department that issue these bizarrely won’t accept the Right to Work code as evidence. This is the same code that they tell employers to rely on!

I am really not sure what else I can send them and am actually quite upset now. 30+ years of paying taxes and National Insurance should count for something!

I have no idea how it works but have just applied and will be interested to see what comes back. I'm an EU national with Settled Status and I have been in the UK for coming up 25 years with a full work history, so we shall see.

If they don't accept a share code as sufficient proof of residency, I will start the process of kicking up an enormous stink.

Yes I am already thinking about how to take this further. Our local MP?

My local MP is Hatt Mancock so he's probably not going to be much use - but let's see what pans out. It's unacceptable that a piece of evidence that will literally let you do everything else and which the Home Office both mandates and accepts isn't enough for this organisation.

It may be worth contacting the group The 3 Million. Their main concern is EUSS applications themselves but I would expect this problem is something they would like to hear about and can potentially help with.

@Horizons83 thank you, I was aware of this group. For now I'm going to wait and see what comes back from this application so I can document what's happening, and if it's true that they don't accept a share code as proof of residency then I'll be onto them.

Thanks I’ve now sent them a screenshot of the page that tells me I’ve got settled status, and that states quite clearly that if I need to prove my status to anyone, that I should send them the share code Confused

Will let you know how what response I get….

Confused

Just got an email to say they need the share code. So I have sent them the same one I sent them earlier.

I’m hoping it’s incompetence rather than an intentionally ‘hostile environment’ type approach!

They've asked me for more information too, so I've sent them the share code. This could be interesting, because my settled status is in my maiden name not my married name, but HMRC seems able to cope with that. Failing that I have scans of my passport and marriage certificate so if they can't make those things match up then I'm thinking hostile environment.

Update: so after a second request for information (most likely because I committed a type on my DOB on the application) my EHIC has now been approved.

Great news! It took a few more emails to and fro, but ours have now also been approved.
