Has anyone else gone off Wordle because of the tactical players trying to always get it in 2 or 3!!!

I know it shouldn’t matter and I’m trying not to engage. I started wordle a month a go after a conversation with a college tutor. I love word games and puzzles etc and working things out. Was having a few good guesses and then lots of friends, colleagues and fb contacts are playing now, but nearly all of them are using words like adieu, unity and arose each time to start so they can solve it as quickly as possible. Which obviously is fine and their right. I like to put a random word in then see if I can get it before the end, love the challenge and am still on a 100% streak.

I keep getting ooh I beat you etc and it’s pissing me off, ruining it and I’m throwing my toys out!!!

I like it because there are different ways to approach it depending on your mood. The competitive fewest-guesses-possible types are missing out on some of the fun but it’s their loss!

I play the Irish version and usually get in in 2/3 guesses precisely because my vocabulary is so limited.

^^ This. Humour is a 6 letter word. It isn’t spelt humor in this country (unless you’re playing Wordle)!

By the way, I don’t care how other people play it, I play it the way I want to! Always start with a random word and go from there and still sitting on 100%

I start with any 5-letter word that pops into my head. How about Nerdle the maths version? I find that more challenging. There's one called called Globle, but that didn't seem to recognise some countries.

It was prick the other day though wasn’t it or did I dream that?!

Cunts or Fucks are also acceptable starting words though don't use in the sane game - too many overlapping letters.

Nerdle is my favourite though as there’s a greater degree of skill/strategy involved.

OP, people get different enjoyment in different ways. For me the strategy is fun, for you it’s the starting with a random word and working it out. I’ve got a friend who likes to play in hard mode though that would remove a lot of the enjoyment for me. We’re all different.

If your friends are being twats about scoring better than you, then that’s really crappy. But if you’re feeling crap that they’re scoring better than you despite score not being your primary motivator for playing, then that’s one you’ll need to work out for yourself.

The sharing scores thing doesn't bother me at all because I do Wordle for my own enjoyment. I often start with STILE but not always. Sometimes I use the previous Wordle solution, sometimes I use IRATE, PROUD, WHACK or other words that would help me to rule out common pairings. DC2 and I will sit down with Wordle Unlimited together and spend a few minutes trying all sorts.

There are a couple of us who message each other our daily scores. Because I’m an adult I just say ‘well done’ or similar and get on with my life.
