How is the lemon served at the table?

So imagine I'm serving a stack of crepe type pancakes. Sugar is in the naice serving sugar bowl - how are the lemons served? I usually juice them and decant into a small bowl with teaspoons on the side so each person sprinkles the juice as and when. But is it better to serve wedges of lemons instead or someway else?

Wedges on a plate.

shoofly · 12/02/2022 10:52

Juiced and into a small jug with a spoon in our house

Letsleepingcats · 12/02/2022 10:52

Hmm wedges but honestly enough with the 'naice' word it's just awful

Halved and put on a naice plate - decanting the juice into a bowl and people might think you'd bought pre squeezed juice! The horror!

SirChenjins · 12/02/2022 11:00

Wedges - and naice as much as you want!

CpstdAndMe · 12/02/2022 11:01

Either is naice imo and I like the word naice, sums up what you mean exactly.

Thank you all. It's still a mixed bag of either/or.

Well, Teeble, I could juice and decant AND display a few fresh lemons on the side leaving nothing to presumption!

I've never seen a lemon juice bowl! Wedges 100%

Newestname002 · 12/02/2022 11:08

Wedges preferably

Also if you cut a sliver the length of the long cut side you avoid squirting lemon juice in your eye! 🌹

TheHoptimist · 12/02/2022 11:10

Silver Georgian or Victorian bowl

or you could just dump them on plate.

Bottle of lemon juice plonked on the table or the plastic squeeze Jif lemon here WinkGrin

Yika · 12/02/2022 11:15

Juiced into a jug here but if we were serving for guests I guess wedges or slices.

LittleBearPad · 12/02/2022 11:15

If you’re worried about this then isn’t lemon and sugar a bit simple.

AdaColeman · 12/02/2022 11:17

The classic elegant solution for serving lemon at the table is to use the individual lemon slice squeezers.

I’m sure Mrs Bucket would agree.

TheHoptimist · 12/02/2022 11:19

Of course wrapped in muslin - half a lemon

Exactly what I was thinking, but the aldi/Lidl own brand that comes in a bigger sized lemon for half the price 😀

Ring for the lemon butler

Muuuuuuuum · 12/02/2022 11:26

My mother has special lemon slice squeezers for this which is what we used growing up. My kids just get wedges though.

Now I've remembered them, am off to Google. Might buy some for my drawer of underused kitchen gadgets.

maddiemookins16mum · 12/02/2022 11:27

We have little squeeze things you put the wedge in.

Disclaimer: I’ve used the twice.

I serve lemon wedges in a small bowel.

ODFOx · 12/02/2022 11:28

When I little we had a half lemon in muslin each on a side plate for tea or pancakes.
It must have been rolled otherwise we wouldn't have been able to squeeze any juice out!
My children had a squeezy lemon to share.
For your purposes OP I think that wedges would work best, with cocktail forks for juicing.

maddiemookins16mum · 12/02/2022 11:28

Bowl.

My thoughts when I clicked on this! Also: bottle of lemon juice on the table is much less faff.
