Are we going to war

My husband watches the news non stop. Says we are going to war and Putin and the Chinese will nuke us all and it will be Armageddon. I've been watching the news but can't make head nor tail of this all

Can anyone summarise for me please

No way. We have 1,000 solider on the boarder and Russia has some where between 100,000 and 150,000 and easy access to many more.

By that I mean if Russia wants to walk into the UKraine they will and we will issue diplomatic sanctions. We won’t physically fight them.

Russia might invade The Ukraine but nobody will want to escalate to nuclear war.

I think that’s maybe (and hopefully) an exaggeration. I think Russia will invade Ukraine which will lead to localised conflict in that area but I don’t think we will see a full blown World War Two style war (unless Russia start invading members of NATO) I know Putin made a statement reminding the world that Russia is a nuclear power yesterday but I think it’s just posturing, I think all leaders know that if they used their nuclear weapons it would be lose lose and we would all be dead. Interestingly, I was watching a video on methods of warfare and it gave the impression that we probably won’t have a large scale war that looks like WW1 or 2 again but instead it might be more akin to some sort of cyber war.

Either way I don’t think you need to start stockpiling toilet rolls yet.

My ds is in the army and he has been sent abroad to do work that isn't happening.. Hope it wasn't a ruse to get them over there...

My anxiety is sky high at the moment over this, I doubt there would be nuclear weapons but I do worry about them cutting off the gas supply and novichok style attacks.
My brother is convinced they'll add a few drops to the water works.

I'm trying to stay positive and hope it's just brinkmanship but Putin won't want to lose face by moving his troops back from the border, on the US press conference in the last hour they said that they think it will be before the end of the month because the ground will be thawing and make it much harder for the tanks and heavy machinery.

It'll be very different to start with, more Cold War number 2....It'll be war by stealth not death, i.e. cutting off gas, minerals, chemicals etc, biowarfare (god forbid, but they've already used novichock on our soil so what's stopping them?)

It's likely Russia will invade, its unlikely that any country will go to war over it, they will just get pathetic sanctions. China isn't going to nuke us all.

I can't see why Putin would invade. Ok, he's using the tactic of ssurrounding Ukraine with troops, like the US did with Iraq, but I think the negatives outweigh the positives. Nordstream2 wpuld get cancelled, meaning gas would have to be still pumped through Ukraine, Putin's rich friends would likely get their London assets seized (about time, the UK, especially London is the money laundering capital of the world), and they'd also face travel bans. For what? I don't know...

If I'm wrong, which usually happens, I'll hold my hands up, but I can't help thinking that NATO should stop looking to build bases in Eastern Europe. And the US should stop encouraging them to do so.
