Where to eat between Harry Potter plays

For Christmas I bought DH tickets to see the HP Play in London. We are doing both parts in one day so we will have just about 2hrs to stretch our legs and have dinner from about 5pm - needs to be near the theatre.

Any recommendations? We like most cuisines; could go for something quick and cheap or a pricey option (but still needs to be reasonably quick so probably nothing crazy). What's nearby?

Obviously endless options - I like Blacklock & Brasserie Zedel.

Loads of options! Chinatown?

ZingyLemon · 11/02/2022 13:08

Ooh Chinatown. That's tempting.

Will have a look at those other two also 👍

PS I know there are loads of options 😂 that's why I was hoping for a recommendation. Also do you think we should book a table?

Jumping on as DD and I are doing the same shortly!

Plutoisaplanet · 11/02/2022 13:10

Definitely book a table especially as you only have a small window

We went to Pizza Express. It's just round the corner and you can book a table. It was easily fast enough and we had spare time after.

Masterblasterjammin · 11/02/2022 13:13

Chick’n’sours - literally a 2 minute walk away, and some of the best fried chicken and sour cocktails I’ve had.

DelorisVC · 11/02/2022 13:13

Viet Food on wardour street is lovely if you like Vietnamese food.
Definitely book wherever you decide to go.

Namechangedone · 11/02/2022 13:19

We went to Mildred's, you have to book though as it gets busy. The show is the best thing I've ever seen, enjoy!

Went to a nice Chinese last week called Duck and Rice (soho) also Old Compton Brasserie is nice for a reasonably quick dinner (food is good and the staff are exceptionally nice)

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 11/02/2022 13:23

Ooh we are going in 2 weeks too! The tickets seems surprisingly cheap and available last summer!
We will go to pizza express for convenience Grin

jay55 · 11/02/2022 13:24

I went to Flat iron on Denmark street. Zip over as fast as you can and beat the queue.

katewitch · 11/02/2022 13:26

We went to a tex-mex place just down the road and it was lush, good cocktails too!

MajesticElephant · 11/02/2022 13:30

We went to pizza express for speed and convenience (also easily cater for allergies and dietary requirements). Also if you are like me, take something soft to sit on, it’s a long time to be sat down in a day!

TeenPlusCat · 11/02/2022 13:31

We went to MacDonalds, literally just across the road, but it was as far as DD1 could walk at the time.

Oooh, I do love Margaritas!

I'll be looking up all of these (probs not Pizza Express or Maccy's because we have a rare child free evening. Should've put that in the OP 😄)

There’s a place called Maison Bab at Seven Dials. Went there Pre theatre a few weeks back. Posh, very tasty, filling kebabs basically. So delicious. Very reasonably priced. Nice restaurant.

Greenlight4 · 11/02/2022 13:48

We went to pizza express, make sure you book a table as the whole theatre empties out and people all hit the restaurants near by. It was bedlam!

languagelover96 · 11/02/2022 13:49

Find a restaurant. I booked tickets to see a circus and will probably eat at either Wetherspoons or the Hay wain pub afterwards.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/02/2022 13:50

Seven Dials is nearly and they have a cheese version of Yo Sushi, where everyone sits round a conveyor belt and picks off the coloured plates they like. Would definetly need a reservation but would be very speedy service.

They also do cocktails and other food options downstairs.

Greenlight4 · 11/02/2022 13:53

The gap between plays is surprisingly short by the time you are out, walk to a restaurant then walk back, go for a wee.

I'd be nervous about going too far afield and would prioritise places with faster food as where they get busy with everyone arriving to be seated at the same time, the waits get longer

A word of warning the merch changes throughout so the stuff you can buy at the start of the 1st show, isn't the stuff at the first of the 2nd and that's different to the stuff at the end so if you want any thing like that I'd buy it when you see it!
