bilbodog · 11/02/2022 10:52

Skylon at the Royal Festival Hall
Restaurant at Tate Britain

Claridges, if budget allows.
Swan at The Globe on the south bank, if you want a more reasonable price.

Do you mean he's NOT keen on fish?

The Wolseley is nice.

If you want to go slightly over budget, The Five Fields is very special:

Hakka dan at Hanway Place is still very special and their weekend brunch set menu is fantastic value for money.

Pollen Street Social just off regent street - fabulous for lunch

Triffid1 · 11/02/2022 11:39

Dehesa off Carnaby street - sort of fusion tapas/Italian. Smart and fabulous but less formal than others mentioned. I always find it a more "fun" meal when I eat there. And the food is AMAZING. As to sit in a booth (pre-book).

Hawksmoor also a good shout.

Another great steak place which has a lovely spot overlooking the Thames is High Timber.

OP, there are over 15,000 restaurants in London, you given us a budget (does that include drink/wine?), but you still need to give more info!

Molly333 · 11/02/2022 12:12

I guess somewhere special we will remember as it's been a v bad year cost right now irrelevant but must be nice setting and food ( not too fishey)

I haven't been to Clos Maggiore for years, but it used to be fabulous and is known as a lovely romantic restaurant. Make sure you sit downstairs.

Slightly more guidance than you provide would be good though. Do you like formal and fancy or laid back and buzzy? Is a view more important than the food? eg High Timber I suggested above or a number of lovely rooftop restaurants, particularly in Soho/West end for a view vs one of the fancy michelin places with a celebrity chef in a hotel.

Doubleraspberry · 11/02/2022 12:27

Will you be drinking? Does £100 need to include that? You can go to a lot of very nice places at lunchtime for £100 for food alone, but they tend to have expensive booze if that needs to be included.

Piccalino3 · 11/02/2022 12:30

I took my DH for a milestone birthday treat to Bob Bob Ricard in Soho and it was amazing. All the tables are booths, the drinks were amazing (especially the champagne cocktail) and no children under 15. It was such a lovely and special lunch, you can press a button for champagne which was a lovely novelty. There is quite a lot of fish on the menu but lots of other things too (neither of us had fish).

City Social in Tower 42 - great views and amazing views.

clarkkentsglasses · 11/02/2022 13:51

The Ned

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 11/02/2022 13:56

The Ivy at Tower Bridge has lovely views and £200 should easily cover a three course lunch and booze. It's more Brasserie style food than fine dining though. Buzzy and lots to do in the area.

If you like people watching (fashion and media types eating plain green salad) while you have a great lunch. Smile

Jamavar in Mayfair. Not Michelin star but should be. Fantastic and you will be treated very well.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/02/2022 15:35

Gymkhana in Mayfair do a brilliant value lunch - Michelin star. Service good but not stuffy. Nice vibe.

actiongirl1978 · 11/02/2022 15:37
