Dd tested positive last week. She took a covid test last night and it was negative then eventually a positive line came through after 20 mins.

Same this morning, so it’s still positive right?

Do you never get a positive line even if you are negative. She is desperate to go back to school and is telling me it’s because the paper got wet! I’ve told her to go back to her room and leave it until Monday. She is not happy.

Depends on the test are they the 15 minute ones the 10 munute ones or the thirty minute ones?

dementedpixie · 10/02/2022 08:01

What sort of test was it and how long does it tell you to leave it until you read the result? Was the positive result within the time it says?

Ooh the lateral flow from NHS? Have I been hiding under a rock i didn’t know there was a difference!

What day of isolation is she on?

dementedpixie · 10/02/2022 08:03

There are several different types
Nose and throat ones take 30 minutes
Orient gene and flowflex take 15
There are 10 minute ones but I've not had them

ItsDisneyBitch · 10/02/2022 08:03

Ah it’s a 15 - 30 minute test. It was within the half an hour a very faint line has shown up. So it is positive.

It seems to be quite rare for people to get 2 negative tests to release from isolation early.

FawnFrenchieMum · 10/02/2022 08:05

Yep then it’s positive but is reducing if it’s taking that long to show but your right, she can’t go back now today or tomorrow.

I think that really it only helps people who catch it late. DH felt tired for a few days but had worked 30 days without a day off so we thought he was tired. Then he lost his taste so tested and had to isolate for ten days even though he was negative by day 5. I tested negative and the. The next day positive and stayed that way until day 9.
