Any online website builder sites to make a basic website that stay free?

Just want a very basic website to display a gallery of work.
Most seem to require an upgrade as soon as going live - do any stay free?

Is it important you retain ownership, copyright, creative control etc?

Yes to all those.
I think I'm probably a bit naïve in my knowledge of these things!
I'm just trying to do a bit of art and want somewhere to refer people to...images, contact details that's it really.
I might be best to stick to a Facebook page and Instagram.

Thanks Cecily....looking at that, it seems possible to do it without it suddenly asking for payment!

Weebly and Wix both offer free options. They'll give you the chance to upgrade to a customised url but you don't need it.
