Would you recommend?

It suggests 13+ for age. I'd like to take my theatre mad (mature) 12 year old DD. Would it be suitable?

Yes , and yes
There’s a bit of ….ummm … a raunchy song and leg action , which made the audience howl with laughter
It’ll be fine

Ha ha, thank you!

Could enjoy watching her cringe Grin

Yes, very good. The premise of the story is more adult than some but it's suitable for a mature 12.

Chickenpoxtwins · 09/02/2022 17:30

I didn't think this was playing anymore. Which theatre is it in?

partystress · 09/02/2022 17:32

It is brilliant and would provoke some very valuable conversations at that age. The raunch is all quite cartoonish, and probably the thing you need to worry about least.

There is DV, I can’t remember whether it is implied or shown. A character considers the alternative to confusing a pregnancy.

It’s up there in the top three things I’ve seen on stage ever, and I only have to hear the first line of one of the songs and I’m crying!

partystress · 09/02/2022 17:33

Continuing a pregnancy

one of my favourite musicals. yes, it does consider some potentially "adult" themes, but I would consider it would be fine a for a mature 12 yr old.

It’s on tour at the moment. I’m seeing it in a few weeks, can’t wait.
Newgirls · 09/02/2022 17:40

It is fantastic. There is a lot of warmth and humour in it which makes the sad scenes watchable for that age. I think the violence is implied and may well go over a 12 year olds head really.

InThePresenceOfWeevil · 09/02/2022 17:57

@Chickenpoxtwins - yeah it's on tour. I know of Oxford and Birmingham at least but will be others!

Lmao me too!

Yes I saw it when Joe sugg was in it, I'd say it'd be fine.

InThePresenceOfWeevil · 09/02/2022 17:58

Thanks all for your responses.

She's very emotionally intelligent so think she'll be fine from what you have all said.

I'm going to book!

Is it an adaptation of the Keri Russel film? Great film.

aftonwater · 09/02/2022 18:24

It’s a fantastic musical with some great songs. I thoroughly endorse all the previous comments!

MrsFionaCharming · 09/02/2022 19:19

I saw it with my parents, and even as an adult wanted to die from embarrassment.

Particularly the oral sex with a pie scene 😳
