Driving to charge a battery

4 replies

How long do I have to drive to charge a battery? I had a free battery health check and they said it's healthy but needs a charge, like driving.

I won't be going over 40mph, as apart from anything else, there's nowhere I need to go near here that has a higher speed limit.

Any help gratefully received.

I've been told around 30 minutes of motorway driving so if you are driving 40mph you might have to keep going a bit longer.

@Madickenxx thanks.

I suppose I'll have to work out how to fit that sort of driving in. I could do without losing that time.

Make sure you go in daylight so you don't have to use the lights and don't have the fan, radio etc on.

After the drive, park pointing downhill if you can then you can bump it off if it doesn't want to start next time round (assuming your car isn't an automatic that is).

@BarbaraofSeville Thank you. I don't usually have the radio on, but I do have heater on to 'stupidly hot'. I may just do the minimum tonight and then go for a good run tomorrow. No idea where I'll end up. I suppose I should look at it as an adventure.

I appreciate the help. I have no idea where to ask otherwise.
