Small lump behind 4 year olds ear

My (4year old) daughter had chicken pox at the beginning of December last year (21). While having it a large lump appeared behind her right ear. We spoke to a doctor over the phone who said it was liking a Lymph node that has swollen and would go down, we waiting and though reduced in size was still their in January, we went to see the doctor who did not seem worried but had suggested to have a scan done on it just to be safe which is this Friday. Since the bump appeared behind the ear we have noticed that the lymph nodes on neck below her ear on both sizes have also gone up and down too. Though I may have not noticed this in the past. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this before as I am getting quite worried about it all. Thank you for any comments

They are almost certainly lymph nodes ( and your DD might have had a few other viruses in the mean time - I have had one cold after another), but the important thing is to attend that scan, then you can really put your mind at rest. Try not to worry too much OP (although I am the "best" at worrying when it comes to my - now adult - children), it is only a few days until the scan, but please have some flowers, as I know that my few words probably haven't managed to convince you! 💐

Almost certainly just residual firmness in glands following CP, but good to have it checked out for piece of mind...

I know it's a worry, but it seems enlarged lymph nodes can be pretty common after an illness. I grew a lump a but bigger than a pea behind my ear as a child and was told the same. Still here now that I'm in my thirties. I recently had it checked again whilst a specialist was looking at something unrelated and he said it was definitely still fine. Great she's getting seen so quickly - wishing you all the best Flowers
