Give me something to do

I'm boooooored.

My DC are in bed. DS1 is away on a residential trip with the school and wasn't allowed to take his phone so can't even stay in touch with him.

Hes usually here as he's 13 so we have a bit of one on one time playing xbox or watching a series (usually anime) together. But as he's not here I can't do that.

I suffer from psychosis which means I hear voices and hallucinate, so I struggle to read. I don't want to listen to an audio book in case DD needs me as she vomited this morning, and I cant listen to music for the same reason.

But I need something I can become engrossed in so that the voices become background noise rather than talking to me and hearing them constantly.

So MN what should I do?

Do you like art? Or crime stuff? There’s a great documentary on Netflix called Made You Look. It’s about art fraud.

Do you have any cupboards or bookshelves that need to be emptied and sorted?

Any games you want to play without DS?

Apparently the Jack Reacher series on Pr8me is really good, the new one not the Tom Cruise one.

Oooh I love the jack reacher books so I'll have a look on prime.
I'm also a big true crime fan so made you look is another option.

Have a lovely long hot bath; use a face mask or hair mask etc. if you have one. You can leave the door ajar & have your dressing gown to hand to get out quickly in case your DD needs you.

Have you ever tried cognitive shuffling? It's meant as a sleep thing but I find it useful for psychosis

LlamaLucy · 08/02/2022 21:43

Rightmove fantasising?

LlamaLucy · 08/02/2022 21:44

And finding bargains on Facebook marketplace. Making to do list. Shopping list. If all else fails… vodka and choosing your next holiday, you’ll waste hooouurrrs

HerRoyalHappiness · 08/02/2022 21:46

I realised there's a new series if a discovery if witches! So I'm watching that. No chance of a bath or shower. I'm also physically disabled and need help in and out so have to wait until my mums here.

Off to Google cognitive shuffling

The Wordle archive? I find Sudoku good when you need distracting too.

BatOutOfHelsinki · 09/02/2022 07:40

When dh is away (often) I clean. It's not exciting or interesting but I put an audiobook on and crack on cleaning things like the top of cupboard or behind/under the microwave - things I don't get to everyday. It helps me feel like I've achieved something when I can't settle to tv.

HerRoyalHappiness · 09/02/2022 11:12

I'd love to be able to clean but my physical disabilities limit what I'm able to do and I really need someone here with me if I'm going ti start clearing cupboards as I can't get up and down off the floor alone.
My mums coming tomorrow so I'll get her to give me a hand and make it all nice and clean fir when DS1 returns on Friday night.
