Smoothie? Milkshake? Iced tea? Juice? Smoothie? Hybrid of any of the above?

What are the rabbit poo style brown lumps at the bottom?

Just why?

DD11 wants one as I gather it's the thing for tweens.

My dds love it too. Does nothing for me. I think it’s flavoured tea with liquidy fruit balls 😐

LoseLooseLucy · 08/02/2022 20:57

Basically a really sweet drink with what feels like large frogspawn in it.

bramblen · 08/02/2022 20:57

I'd say like a thin milkshake, kinda like nesquick. THe balls in the bottom are filled with 'juice' and pop in your mouth. They have a very thin skin that kinda disappears once it's popped.

You can combine the flavours so maybe a strawberry drink with cherry balls

I'm not sure if they can come hot tbh but I'd imagine not as the little balls would surley dissolve?

But either way, it was quite nice and refreshing

bramblen · 08/02/2022 20:58

Actually I correct myself... like nesquik but with skimmed milk... they're very watery

Gingernaut · 08/02/2022 20:59

Tapioca Envy Envy Envy

SouthOfFrance · 08/02/2022 20:59

Kinda sounds better than the alcopops of our youth!

The hot stuff is flavoured tea with tapioca pearls. Not nice! Although dd likes it (or CLAIMS to!). The cold stuff has fruity juicy pearls and is lovely but I'd rather waste those calories on red wine!

Allpenguinsarepingus · 08/02/2022 21:01

It’s tapioca in tea.

Lamerexo · 08/02/2022 21:01

Usually some sort of fruit flavoured milk with either tapioca balls (usually flavourless but cooked in brown sugar, and are chewy) or 'popping tapioca' (balls that pop in your mouth with fruit flavoured liquid inside) qt the bottom of the drink, thags why you need the big straw. I love it!

ScreamingMeMe · 08/02/2022 21:01

Definitely, definitely chew the little balls!

Giant brow sugar tapioca in either cold fruit tea or cold milky drink of varying flavours.

BuddhaForMary · 08/02/2022 21:03

DD2 loves it. She's 11.

littlejalapeno · 08/02/2022 21:05

It’s tea, either fruit or milk based and flavoured, and tapioca pearls, or fruit jelly flavoured pearls or sometimes cubes of fruit or coconut jelly.

Nice but sweet alternative to a latte also quite expensive compared to a caf tea!

Luxury kinda thing from south east Asia and tweens like them, especially in the area I live in as an alternative to alcoholic drinks in the evening

MrPenguinsPoppers · 08/02/2022 21:14

The queue of teenagers for the bubble tea stand in our local shopping centre snaked its way to the entrance and was easily 20 deep on Sunday. Every teen I saw in there was clutching their cup of frogspawn like Grogu eyeing up a frog. Grin

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 09/02/2022 06:18

Ah OK. Well DD is desperate to try one. Thanks for clarifying!
