wrapped or unwrapped veggies in vegetable drawer in fridge

I always take the plastic outer wrapper on vegetables off before I put them in the vegetable drawer of the fridge. I notice that not everybody does this. I assumed that the veggies would rot quicker through being kept in a plastic bag.
How do you store your veggies?

Not in plastic.

Unwrapped

Unwrapped, in the salad drawer

Unwrapped or at least the packet opened to breath. I do try and buy them out of plastic if I can, then they stay in the string bags I put loose produce in so I don't have stray carrots running off 😂

DH insists on unwrapped; makes the drawer very dirty

Baystard · 08/02/2022 19:55

Some definitely last better wrapped, e.g. lettuce. We keep them wrapped (but open bags to let them breath) and i've noticed the stray carrots that escape from bags go rubbery.

i try and buy out of plastic and our local Lidl is very good at offering 'unwrapped' veggies.

Unwrapped. I put things like rocket and fresh herbs in airtight containers.

onedayoranother · 10/02/2022 19:53

I just stick them in in whatever they come in.

NannyGythaOgg · 10/02/2022 21:37

mushrooms go into a paper bag, other veg is transferred into one of those net vegetable bag

BrassicaBabe · 10/02/2022 22:37

Wrapped. That way when I forget about them and they turn to liquid in the bag they are easy to bin Hmm

I don't put vegetables in the fridge. Why would you ?
