Help! I need to work on my doctoral essay overnight for two nights

In my defence, I'm working full-time and have three school-aged kids at home, so this situation is not just due to procrastination (although there's that...).

My essay is 75% ready but finishing it off is so, so hard. I've been working on it for days and im depleted of energy now.

I need tips to a) stay awake and b) stay focused. I don't want to have to ask for an extension as I really, really want to get it out of the way. I've got another thing to submit in three months's time and I don't want to add to that stress.

Thanks!

How much support do you have ?

Can you book yourself into a local travelodge for 2 nights ?

Failing that- you need a steady supply of sugary brews and sweets /mints and the promise of takeaway breakfasts.

You got this !!

Drink water... lots of it. It really does help focus to be properly hydrated.

Make a list of each section you need to do and the time you need to do it, then work through the list. Be strict.

Start with the hardest bits first so by the time you are really tired, it's the easier bits that still need doing.

Bullet point some bits if too tired and write up into full paragraphs once more awake.

Ohh, I want to cry, I'm so tired. Thank for not judging me.

I have a lovely husband and he can take over most things at home until I finish. Going to a hotel is no practical - I like working at my desktop, having one orle two extra monitors plus all the paper articles around me.

I will drink lots of coffee and hope for the best. Honestly, if I could get hold of certain illegal substances, I think I would!!!

This will sound completely counter-intuitive - but go for a run? (Speed ireelevant, can be a slow jog!) Getting out, especially if it's cold, and the blood pumping, helps wake me up (not that I ever take this advice myself...but it does work!)

Pink flask, I'm with you! But I'm so truly exhausted that I can't face any physical activity. I do daydream of going for a run this Friday!! And sleeping non-stop...

In fact, I think I need a nap now to get some energy for tonight...
