Had an email that was rather rude and abrupt and so replied saying not sure if you meant too but your email sounded quite rude, can we speak on the phone instead to clear up any confusion.
They immediately phoned me and couldn't apologise enough, rather proud of myself!

I haven't used it yet but am saving it up for next year and big family reunion.

I actually think asking did you mean to be so rude is kind of wrong as it allows people to say “yes”. I’d say “you’re coming across as really rude and I’m sure you don’t mean to, I’ll let you rephrase what you meant to say” and then be quiet.
