Board games your 3 and 6 year old enjoy playing together?

Any recommendations for something simple enough for a 3 year old that a 6 year kid can enjoy too. Nothing that takes too long to set up or play. We have the usual orchard games and dominoes and snap but is there anything that yours love ?

Big fans of pop up pirate and buckaroo here!

NewtoHolland · 07/02/2022 18:25

Dobble
Moustache Smash

JassyRadlett · 07/02/2022 18:25

We love Outfoxed - it’s everyone against the fox so no angst over the winner!

Thanks I’ve not heard of Outfoxed, Dobble or Moustache Smash. I’ll take a look. And pop up pirate and buckaroo I’d forgotten about .

Orchard games….the lunchbox and shopping list ones especially.

Ghastlyghoul · 07/02/2022 18:58

Thanks Felicity. We have those Orchard ones. I looked at Outfoxed. Looks good for the 6 year old but too complicated for the little one.

Pop up Pirate is always popular in our house.

Giraffes in scarfs, lamas in pyjamas. Both orchard.
Dobble, especially for 6yo
various bingo - we have the ocean one.

ELC do lovely games (available through The Entertainer)

I used to buy most of my games from charity shops, if I didn't like them or we got bored they could go back.

Littl3lim3 · 07/02/2022 19:20

Hiss was the best game we ever had.

www.amazon.co.uk/Gamewright-5219-Hisss/dp/B00005NQE8/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=B9WA7SOHLKL9&keywords=hiss+game&sprefix=hiss+game%2Caps%2C384&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1644261185&sr=8-3

It’s cheaper if you buy it from US Amazon

Snakes and ladders is a favourite in our house. And hungry hippos

Stompythedinosaur · 07/02/2022 19:37

Dobble kids was our favourite at that age.

MangshorJhol · 07/02/2022 19:39

The cooperative games from Peaceable Kingdom. Haba’s Orchard (the simpler one). Also Karuba Junior.

Morechocmorechoc · 07/02/2022 19:42

Monopoly junior and cluedo junior here. Cluedo needs help fir my 3 year old but he likes it. Monopoly deal they can just play without me and love it.

morechocolateneededtoday · 07/02/2022 19:43

Dobble/dobble jr
Guess who

NightDreaming · 07/02/2022 19:47

Labyrinth. 3 is slightly on the young side to start with but it’s a game where you can help them spot good moves. Can also be a great “team” game at getting everyone to think together about how to move the board for each player.

Iknowacrackingowlsanctuary · 07/02/2022 19:49

I saw it first is a hit here and Grabolo

user1493494961 · 07/02/2022 19:49

Uno.

Imaginethat456 · 07/02/2022 19:50

My boys 4 and 8 both enjoy playing ‘I saw it first ocean’ (or jungle) together. I quite enjoy it too!

SoTiredoftheStress · 07/02/2022 19:50

Kerplunk is a winner here

DingleyDel · 07/02/2022 19:50

Sneaky snacky squirrels. Absolutely brilliant. My kids love playing this (3&6).

1stWorldProblems · 07/02/2022 19:52

Another vote for Dobble - no reading or numbers so no educational advantage with age. Comes in a sturdy tin so the cards don't get lost or mashed when the usual cardboard box falls apart. Can be played by any generation - we keep a tin in the car for playing in restaurants esp with adults the kids don't know very well. DD2 at 5 once played it for 3 hours with a very cooperative godparent - we did keep topping up his drink.

Lots of orchard toys games are played nicely by my 3.5 and nearly 6 yr old: 3 little pigs, bus stop, rain or shine, tummy ache, shopping list, red dog colour game, monster dominos... didn't really get on with dinosaur race or old McDonald.

Also enjoy buckeroo, pop up pirate, hungry hippos and operation, though they don't follow the rules for that one!

We all disliked some of the paw patrol games and don't wake dad was too much for the younger one
