Is it possible for a postpartum period to only last one day??

Baby is 17mo and still have not had a period. I know this is normal if you’re breastfeeding (especially as he breastfeeds quite a bit during the night). A few days ago I had horrendous cramps and then the next day some brown blood followed by a little bit of fresh blood (sorry for the tmi) and then nothing after that. So light bleeding for one day and that was it. Could that have been a period? Really want my cycles to return asap.

Thanks if anyone has any answers!!! X

Midwife here. The first ovulation after breastfeeding can result in a bit of an odd period, yes, and you may take several months to go back to how your normal was before this pregnancy, this is due to the breastfeeding/lactation hormones messing with your other hormones.

Fabulous job of breastfeeding for 17 months by the way!

My first period at 18 months PP was mainly spotting , got back to normal pretty quickly after.

Weirdly my periods stopped being painful after DS was born. Unexpected bonus!

Sometimes it’s possible to get your periods restarted by taking the pill for a month. Speak to your GP.
