Was in the charts on this day in 2004. 200 and fucking 4 which was 18 years ago 😲 How is that possible?!

Remember that episode of Friends where they all turn 30 and Joey wails 'Why God why?' That's me now 😫😰

Nah I can't comprehend how many years its been! Absolutely wild.

scaresdale · 06/02/2022 18:41

18 years 🤯

MrsTophamHat · 06/02/2022 18:41

Aargh! I remember hearing this for the first time and I was visiting London for the first time in my life!

My parents must have taken us out of school I think. Brilliant

JanglyBeads · 06/02/2022 18:42

Don't worry, once you get over 50 18 years is nothing....

ImJustNotMeAnymore · 06/02/2022 18:42

Thank you. That is now stuck in my head 😂

PollyCreo · 06/02/2022 18:54

Well I'm hurtling towards 50 Jangly although my knees hurt 🙄

Was listening to Paul Gambaccini's Pick of the Pops earlier on Radio 2 - other memorable hits in 2004 were Mad World (from Donnie Darko) and Hey Ya by OutKast. I'm feeling ancient and melancholy so I'm taking you all down with me WinkGrin

Milkshake is a bloody great song.

Piemam · 06/02/2022 20:14

I could teach you/
But I'd have to charge!

itssixohthree · 06/02/2022 20:22

WHAT! 18 years, well that’s ruined my evening. I am feeling personally attacked by Paul Gambaccini more and more often these days actually…

Still a banger though! Grin

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 06/02/2022 20:23

18 years?!

Love when Melissa McCarthys character is singing along to it in the car in Identity Thief!

flashpaper · 06/02/2022 20:24

Urghhh that song is old enough to drink 🤦🏼‍♀️

PinkArt · 06/02/2022 23:55

To make you feel even older @PollyCreo, Mad World and Hey Ya were 2003, not 2004! I listened to both or repeat for months at the end of that year on a receptionist job.

Sloughsabigplace · 07/02/2022 05:35

My ds was a little 18 month old who used to say “mick shack mummy peeeeeees” when it came on the radio 😫

Photosymphysis · 07/02/2022 06:19

It's on Radio 6music right now.

How have you done that?!

thewhatsit · 07/02/2022 06:27

I watched this amazing TikTok (I am too old for TikTok) the other day where a woman read out the lyrics to Milkshake as if an English teacher in the year 2300 or something and studying the text as if it was Shakespeare, pausing for effect on the most ridiculous parts as if they are hugely telling and meaningful. It was great!

I am so posting so I can watch the video later!

Can't believe that song is older than my kids :(

Hey Ya reminds me of being on a residential school trip in year 9 and simultaneously going through a v dramatic time with my boyfriend who didn't go on the trip. The song was on the whole time we were there and on the coach home. Now I feel incredibly old, thanks 😂
