DS has arrived. It's pouring rain, so when it changes to snow we'll likely get a lot.

DS was at uni on his actual birthday so we're going to do a little celebration tonight. I've picked up a chocolate mousse cake from the posh bakery.

Makiwa · 12/03/2022 15:09

Happy celebrations tonight Miss. That cake sounds delicious.

Here are a few photos of our spring flowers.

Makiwa, the chocolate mousse cake from this bakery is beyond fabulous. It's our go-to cake for birthdays. Your flowers are gorgeous.

The rain has changed to snow. I'm going to cook some bacon. The men are making pizza for dinner tonight, so they'll need it for that.

I am looking for baby Stella to play a part in the end of term church service for reception year (C of E school).

DS has said he will do a project going through the church archives for his bronze D of E award. He is ridiculously pleased about this.

DD is painting a giant Easter egg for a competition.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 12/03/2022 16:18

Anyone else watching the rugby today? We’re off to the pub in a minute to watch it and have an Irish breakfast while we’re there.

MissConductUS · 12/03/2022 16:24

Welcome, @herecomesthsun, and thanks for sharing your church service planning and kids' activity news. I will admit that I had to google both baby Stella and D of E award. I am an Episcopalian, which is the successor church to the C of E in the US. I don't think baby Stella is part of the liturgy here, but nothing would surprise me. Smile I have one of each also. How old are your DC?

DS is having a well-deserved nap and we're getting lots of customers at the bird feeder.

The storm is a beast and covers the entire northeast.

ZZTop we are. The Italians just lost again but put up a good fight. The game last night was so well balanced - we were happy with the final result though. Settling down to watch the next game now but first have to Google baby Stella!

Lemonsandlemonade · 12/03/2022 17:22

Took DS to a local farm park place. DS enjoyed I wish I had a waterproof suit for him so he could have crawled around a b it and not be carried. ( I can’t use the baby carrier as it kills my back).

DH is an England supporter (unusually for an American) so he’s trying not to weep.

I have been at work from 7.50am to 5.10pm supervising some site work. This is likely unpaid but I got so much done without constant interruptions and the phone ringing. I would take Monday off in lieu but another 3 staff reported positive COVID tests today so we’ll be even more short handed than this week.

Looking forward to the pub with some of my sisters this evening.

LoveFall · 12/03/2022 17:41

Miss Conduct, how wonderful to have your family all together. We had a short visit from our son who lives in England in November. It was so lovely for all of us to have a meal together.

I believe a lot of my New England ancestors were Episcopalian too. They were early settlors from the UK. But some were United Empire Loyalists during the war for independence and went to Canada, primarily New Brunswick. I did Ancestry DNA and found many of my ancestors in Massachusetts.

Those are beautiful narcissus Makiwa. Thank you for posting them. I might try and paint them. The flowers are so interesting.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus the photos of Rhur are lovely.

MissConduct, I hope the storm is not too awful. My sister lives near Boston and has been through some d

LoveFall · 12/03/2022 17:42

Woops finger slipped. I was going to say she works at a hospital and sometimes they have sent some very snow capable vehicle to get her.

Spudlet · 12/03/2022 17:48

Beautiful flowers, Makiwa!

I took DS to his swimming lesson today. It’s a Swimability session for kids with various SENs, so a parent has to go in as well. So far for various logistical reasons it’s always been DH, but today I took him for the first time. The teacher said he behaved much better for me Grin [preens] I was so proud, he was kicking himself along with a pool noodle and nobody holding, which is brilliant step forward for him Smile 🐠

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/03/2022 18:48

Spud That is great news! I hope your DS continues to enjoy water.

Temperatures went up to 10 °C today and my mallows started to show. They are still inside, though.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 12/03/2022 21:24

Couldn’t bring myself to watch the Wales game last night, I get so frustrated. Kept flicking the channel and getting crosser so gave it up as a bad job. Did watch the England v Ireland game tho. As a Welsh person I did have a wry smile… sorry.
How old is your DS Spudlet ? DD (also SEN) loved the water when she was younger.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 12/03/2022 21:29

I got trigger happy there sorry and posted too soon.
Fab that he enjoyed Spudlet and excellent progress!
I’m enjoying seeing the photos of everyone’s plants and flowers.
Looks like a lovely outing for DS Lemons

herecomesthsun · 12/03/2022 21:37

I was also cheering Ireland on Daffodil

LoveFall · 12/03/2022 22:07

@Makiwa

Well, I tried to paint your beautiful flowers. I couldn't get the lovely peach colour right, but I had fun anyway!

Love, it's almost all of us together. I have a 20 year old daughter at uni. She's on spring break this week but her crew team has traveled to South Carolina to train with a university there since the weather is warmer.

The storm has moved on but we'll have high winds overnight. The snow just ended so DH is going to clear the driveway in the morning.

Well done little spudlet Smile

We've just had pizza and DS is deciding if he wants his belated birthday cake tonight or tomorrow. I'm going to watch the new episodes of Mrs. Maisel on Prime.

I have a 4x4 so more than capable of getting myself to work. However colleagues have in the past been collected by armed police officers (as they drive 4x4 vehicles) I've always been rather disappointed as I imagine the sight of me being bundled into the back of a police car would cause my conservative and law abiding village to self combust Grin
ZZTopGuitarSolo · 13/03/2022 01:06

The police turned up at our house the other day. It was only to talk to DS about his report of hitting a deer the previous night.

I went to chat to my neighbours next day and mentioned that the police had been over to talk about DS hitting a deer. They already knew what it was about from listening to the scanner.

There are no secrets in a small town.

MissConductUS · 13/03/2022 01:09

Did you get much snow ZZ?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/03/2022 08:01

DH is back from his event - it took place here: Burg Ronneburg but, of course, he did not take a foto.

Sadly we received news that late DMil's little sister very suddenly died last night (early 90ties). Now that this generation is gone, it will be difficult to keep contact between the cousins.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/03/2022 08:08

On a lighter note: DB and his partner were walking with alpakas. This is Hinrich Alpaka.

Nydj · 13/03/2022 12:02

I’m so sorry for your loss, Prok.

Hinrich looks very cute.

Great painting, Love.

We are still waiting for the daffodils to flower in our back garden - not long now.
