What classic movie should we watch tonight?

We (DH, myself plus on occasion our 9 and 5 year olds) have been on an accidental classic movie marathon lately that we're really enjoying. Not Casablanca classic, but movies that we remember enjoying as kids and teens. So far we have watched:

Die Hard
Gremlins
Planes Trains and Automobiles
What About Bob
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Parenthood
Poltergeist
Ghostbusters I & 2

Any suggestions on what to watch next? Kids are having an early night so rating doesn't matter. DH has just vetoed Scream, which was my random preference of the day.

Cool Runnings

ffscovid · 05/02/2022 18:43

We're watching Cool Runnings as it seemed appropriate with the Winter Olympics on at the moment.

ISmellBurnings · 05/02/2022 18:44

We’re watching Jurassic Park!

DopamineDresser · 05/02/2022 18:44

Beetle juice!

CharacterForming · 05/02/2022 18:45

I'm going to suggest properly classic, because you can't go wrong with Some Like It Hot

PiePieChickenPie · 05/02/2022 18:45

Trading Places

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 05/02/2022 18:46

Stand By Me

If watching with the kids The Goonies or Uncle Buck

isthismylifenow · 05/02/2022 18:50

Whats eating Gilbert Grape.

We had a film fest recently of 80s movies and the brat pack. Was great watching them all again.

St Elmos Fire
Breakfast Club
The Outsiders
Ferris Beullers Day Off
Top Gun
Officer and a Gentlemen

There are more that will spring to mind as soon as I press post 😃

FunkyPhantom · 05/02/2022 18:50

With the kids - School of Rock
Without the kids - Life of Brian

isthismylifenow · 05/02/2022 18:51

Of course a fair few of those aren't suitable for young DC

CuteOrangeElephant · 05/02/2022 18:51

The Goonies
Stand by me

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/02/2022 18:53

I absolutely love the original three Bourne films, especially the third one. Seen them several times and still enjoy them.

Where Eagles Dare is absolute hokum but I love it. Ditto The Towering Inferno.

The Great Escape is fun, but a bit long, possibly.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The Sting. There are two excellent reasons to watch either - one is Paul Newman and the other is Robert Redford. Grin

The Godfather is my favourite film of all time (taking the original and Part II together) but quite heavy watching.

It also stars Keanu in a wet suit. I mean...
Beamur · 05/02/2022 19:21

Point Break is great. Maybe follow it another week with Hot Fuzz.
Which leads me to Shaun of the Dead.

Ylvamoon · 05/02/2022 19:25

The Help - one of my all-time favourites!

shivabeaver · 05/02/2022 19:26

The lost boys

MalteserGeezee · 05/02/2022 21:02

Cool Runnings is a great shout. Short Circuit? Turner and Hooch? Flight of the Navigator? Space Camp? Back to the Future? ET?

coodawoodashooda · 05/02/2022 21:03

Stop or my Mom will shoot!
