Any advice for dealing with 12 year old DD

My whole family are currently self isolating as we have all tested positive for covid. I have just found a patch on the arm of our sofa where my 12 year old has drawn / written on it. She tried to blame her little siblings but. they are much younger and cant write or draw like that... She eventually owned up .

I have really shouted at her... I know that's not great, but I am absolutely livid. She's 12 years old for goodness sake. Surely old enough to know better!?

I have scrubbed it with carpet cleaner, and she is currently drying it (under duress)

Am I over reacting? I'm 12 weeks pregnant and full of covidy cold, so am a bit emotional.

How would you deal with it? Would asking her to use some of her Birthday money to buy a throw be too much? Or do you think a bollocking and being asked to dry it was enough?

I just feel so cross! It's the principle of it!

I'd have made her clean it. Get her to find out how to remove whatever type of ink it is if you can't get it all out.
Pens only at the table for a couple of days?

No wonder you are cross but is something going wrong for her at the moment? It seems an odd thing for her to have done but a sure way to get your attention.

I am sorry you have covid and are also dealing with your pregnancy on top of everything💐

Thank you both. She has cleaned and dried the rest of it.

@ScrollingLeaves now I have calmed down a bit, I have been wondering the same. We've had some space from one another and she has apologised (I apologised for yelling too!) I will try and talk to her later. She is isolating too, so maybe she's just going stir crazy!? Thank you for your kind words.
