Shinyandnew2022 · 04/02/2022 15:14

Dsis will be collecting her new puppy soon and I thought I would get her a puppy relevant gift for her upcoming birthday ?

Any ideas ?

What were your must haves ?

I have never had a dog so am pretty clueless !

MimiSunshine · 04/02/2022 15:47

Nothing puppy related, surely otherwise that’s a gift for the dog? 🤨

firedoornewname · 04/02/2022 15:54

A towel for drying muddy paws.

Peasandcabbage · 04/02/2022 15:54

Gin yes.
How much do you want to spend?

Puppy class voucher?
Decent coat
Wellies
Warm hat
Torch, head torch is ideal.

Get something for your sister like nice gloves for dog walking , or a good hat etc and then get something to wrap up for the puppy .

AwkwardPaws27 · 04/02/2022 15:59

Only if you are truly willing but... a genuine dog sitting offer, to go round hers and mind puppy for a couple of hours if she needs to go somewhere.

We had lots of "oh we'd love to help out" but in practice the in-laws sat with him for a couple of hours once & no one else actually meant it.

Unfortunately AwkwardPup has been unwell & is on high doses of steroids so, although he is happy being left at home (he's 16 months), in practice he can't actually be left for more than an hour or so without a toilet trip.

I'd recommend a nice puppy toy and the brilliant doo-kee (www.doo-kee.com) which I bought after seeing it recommended on here and WISH I had known about sooner. No more carrying cold sacks of poo.

hennaoj · 04/02/2022 16:05

A dicky bag, lots of pizzle sticks, snuffle mat. Hard plastic bed with vetbed is best for puppies if she doesn't have one already.

CMOTDibbler · 04/02/2022 16:14

A beanie hat with built in light. Genius for standing in the garden at 2am waiting for them to wee.
Furry lined crocs - to shove your feet in while doing the sofa to back door in olympic times dash to then stand in the garden waiting for them to wee.
Gin
A dicky bag

Shinyandnew2022 · 04/02/2022 16:21

Hee hee I love these replies as yes she will need gin !! Previous kittens have also required gin.
In fact I did have a distillery tour on my list too so might do that as well!
Have ordered doo-kee and am looking at the dicky bag as I think she showed me something similar but hadn't bought anything until pup was born and everything confirmed .
I will also get her a head torch !
Thanks all
@AwkwardPaws27 that sounds hard - her DH is at home all day but my DC will be desperate to pup sit so will definitely be able to offer that and mean it !

I’ve never seen these before and am absolutely ordering one right away! Thank you!

When we got our dog my favourite puppy related present was from DS it's a dog walking bag, it's got a place for poo bags, a dog whistle/clicker, a collapsible bowl and it's big enough for my phone and keys. I use it daily and find it so useful.

It's very similar to this one

Kong toy to keep puppy occupied. Nice photo frame for her favourite photo of the puppy.

This shop is a bit twee, but it has lots of stuff that would make for a good present.

@wetotter that link is going to cost me a fortune
