London theatre last minute tickets....

Does anyone know if you can still get last minute tickets on the day from the theatres direct?
I remember doing this when I was a kid with my mum but not sure if you still can now?
London theatre prices are absolutely crazy at the min (I know they have to make up for covid losses) it's looking like over £100 for 2 of us at the cheapest!!!
Surely there must be somewhere I can grab cheap tickets still.....

Watching with interest. We recently went to Mama Mia it was fab but I did wonder if we could have got cheaper tickets turning up on the night as it wasn’t full by any means.

I just can't afford the prices on all the ticket websites. Some seats are £195?! How can they justify that?
It really means that families cannot go as the cosy would be the same price as a mini break Shock

You can still get cheaper tickets on the day through tkts. Not sure whether the booth is open again in Leicester Square but you can definitely buy them online.

Download the app 'TodayTix'. At 10am they release 'rush seats' which are the on the day returns.

Also, lots of the big shows do ticket lotteries - Matilda, School of Rock, Cinderella, Hamilton, Harry Potter etc. I do the rounds periodically and have got tickets through all of them except HP and Hamilton. They give you the option to purchase 2 good stalls tickets (£100+) for £25 each.

Oh, and go and see The Play That Goes Wrong. They often have seats for £25 and it's really really excellent.

Just had a quick look at tkts and although there are discounts, the seats are rubbish. The only £30 tickets available for Wicked for example were in the back rows of the gods! Absolutely no point in being that high or far away with a 9 year old.
It's such a shame

Hamilton the Musical used to have an App that you could check everyday to see if there were £10 tickets available. you could try that?

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 04/02/2022 11:13

You can on some of their websites yes. Went to see back to the future like this a few weeks ago.

TheresOnlyOneWayOfLife · 04/02/2022 11:19

Today Tix do daily rush tickets for a lot of shows - Back to the Future, Wicked, Dear Evan Hanson, &Juliet and a few more.

They do a lottery for Hamilton every Friday and you get an email/text if you win on the following Thursday.
I won it a few weeks back and missed the text/email by 20 mins - you only get 30 mins to reply. Absolutely gutted.

I had to pay Wicked prices as we're doing a surprise trip and needed specific time and date - cost a fortune.

Compare the theatre tickets is a comparison site for all the agencies. They often have better deals. For e.g., still in the dress circle but not as far back as the last row there are £26 tickets for next week for Wicked.
