How have you ruined your toddlers day so far?

I brushed DS's hair and made him put his shoes on the right feet ("But I LIKE my hair being knotty!"..."But I WANT them on the wrong feet!!"). So he's gone off to nursery not very happy with me at all.

Have you ruined your toddlers day yet?

The milk I gave her for breakfast was "too spicy".
Wtf.

Aww I can remember the days, DS2 was a bit of a terror as a toddler, getting him dressed was always difficult, DS1 a dream, wore whatever I put out for him, no hassle whatsoever. DS2 I would put his clothes on he would say they are too soft and immediately take them off and throw them on the floor. So I would try again, the next lot would not be soft enough. Very difficult to get the right level of softness 😂 DS2. He is nearly 19 and absolutely gorgeous now!

I wouldn’t let him give his dummy to the dog Grin. At least he’s learning to share.

I helped him put on his red shoes exactly as he asked me to.

I love toddlers and their batshittery

We had the usuals in the last 24 hrs

didn’t want to clean teeth
We took her hair clips out before bed
Cut up her dinner for her
I ate my dinner off the wrong dinner plate
We all sat in the wrong chairs for dinner (according to her)
She couldn’t wear her wet pjs to bed (they’d just come out the washer)

BertieBotts · 04/02/2022 14:48

Oh yes, I put my shoes on before he could watch me.

Then I wanted to walk home the same way as him, and didn't think it was a good idea for him to go another way without me.

BertieBotts · 04/02/2022 14:49

Also I gave him two biscuits and he only asked for one Confused

My just turned five year old was very upset with me when I attacked his face with a sharp object before school (damp kitchen roll, had a bit of peanut butter by his lip I wiped off).

After this followed a collapse to the floor in pain and humiliation when I went for his hair (with a damp hand to smooth a fly away bit down).

I recognise DD13 in much of this!

AliasGrape · 04/02/2022 14:53

I ruined my 18 month olds day because I had a wee. She followed me into the bathroom, cried ‘no weeeeee’ and threw herself to the floor with hands covering her face crying.

She also has a little song bag with different nursery rhyme props in. She brought me the black sheep and did the weird sign/ dance/ shouting thing she does that indicates she wants me to sing. I started to sing baa baa black sheep but this was apparently wrong. I tried the bit about Old McDonald having a sheep on his farm which was even more wrong. I couldn’t think of any other sheep related songs, tried incy wincy spider as a total wild card but that was apparently too much as sheep, rest of song bag’s contents and bag itself were all flung to the floor followed by DD herself. She’s still not really over it, and I’ve still no idea what song it was she actually wanted. I’ve put an episode of twirlywoos on and given her a handful of quavers which is helping, but not sure if I’m fully forgiven yet.

My just turned four year old is surpassing her two year old self in terms of mega rants over the smallest things

Hope she grows out of it soon

I have to keep calm but the noise is crazy

bobbythevet · 04/02/2022 14:55

Disagreed when I was told confidently by DD that she's having chocolate for lunch

Noshowlomo · 04/02/2022 14:57

I cwtched him at 1.30am as he was whimpering and wouldn’t settle. He screamed at me whilst simultaneously wrapping my arms around him tighter. No win situation really.

MangoM · 04/02/2022 14:58

I misunderstood and gave him weetos this morning instead of weetabix.

You think he'd have been thrilled with that one! HmmGrin

MarshaBradyo · 04/02/2022 14:59

This morning

  • I moved the coffee in front of me to put her bowl down, bad mistake
  • her shreddies got too milky
Bunglejerry · 04/02/2022 15:13

My 3 year old's day was ruined when I picked her up from school in the car. Our car is red. She decided that the only car colour acceptable to her is blue. Cue huge crying tantrum in the back as I had to wrestle her into her car seat. "I want BLUE car!"
