I've just got an email confirming that I've bought cryptocurrency and if it's not me to phone a helpline in 24 hours .

Is it a scam ?? Help ?

Most likely the "helpline" will be a premium number which will cost you a lot of money, or they'll be trying to scam you for personal information which may result in your account being drained. Check your bank account online or call in to see if there have been any unusual transactions. Do not click on any links coming from this source.

Also, you could put the helpline number into a Google Search with the word scam and see if others have reported a problem

I have had quite a few like that and ones saying 'they' have bitcoins or some suchlike to pay in . As pp said check your bank account but I would be 99.9% its a scam trying to get info from you.

It's funny isn't it that some things we receive we dismiss as "scam" straight away while others make us stop and think and really doubt ourselves? Scams are getting so much more sophisticated to try to trip us up in exactly that way. It's scary really. Glad you're all sorted (and none the poorer!).
