What would order at an Italian restaurant?

It's not a cuisine I'd choose as I'm not keen on pizza or pasta.

What dish would you recommend?

@viques

intermittentparps ( great name, I have the same issue.)

I like risotto, as a starter, but I find as a main it is too much of the same texture and taste however delicious, I like differentiation in each mouthful!

I maintain there is such a thing as an interesting risotto Smile

The username does sound like an embarrassing health issue, doesn't it Grin
In fact it's from the subtitles of a programme about snoring: someone was emitting 'bestial snorts and intermittent parps' (and yes, I found it hard to choose between the two!)

I see all these amazing Italian dishes advertised you get in Italy but never see in Italian restaurants in UK eg lovely fresh vegetable dishes and amazing salads stuffed artichokes simple walnut n lemon pasta which is amazing, beautiful pannetone dishes and gorgeous deserts it's always risotto (sorry I agree that's boring) cheesy things, heavily tomato based meat things and same old traditionally popular things like tiramisu (yum yes but boring now) if there's seafood I would usually always go for that but think alot if uk Italians stick to the same stuff they always have from 70s/80s tell me different

Vitello tonnato
Saltimbocca
Melanzane Parmigiana
Fish
A plate of vegetable antipasti
Italian food is so much more than pasta and pizza

Our local ones do a chicken breast with a kind of boozy, creamy pasta sauce. It’s bloody lovely, in all our restaurants it’s called chicken alla , they all seem to be much the same though.

Aposterhasnoname · 04/02/2022 12:12

Gah, not pasta sauce, prawn sauce

Risotto wouldn't be served as a main in a real Italian restaurant any more than any pasta dish would.
Wouldn't have any kind of seafood unless the restaurant is on the coast. Frozen innit.
