I find old abandoned places fascinating. If its safe and legal I will often stop for an explore

Anybody got anything interesting nearby? Am i alone with this love of urban exploration?

even churches and churchyards have me stopping by for a good look

I'd like to do it but not on my own! Anyone in and around the Oxfordshire area, let's go! Grin

I am geeky about disused railway lines and railway heritage, and to a lesser extent, canals. This is a great website - I can spend hours looking at it: maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/?fbclid=IwAR1GNhpcZWQl0EY8wDbzsVVDSkSUqjJnMBhHC4GFIkLMjekD0IHrVbr0d80#zoom=5&lat=56.00000&lon=-4.00000&layers=1&right=ESRIWorld

I also love old concert halls and theatres and old schools.

@JuergenSchwarzwald me too! I follow some disused railway groups on Facebook. Also the Disused Stations website is great!

Search 'Virginia Waters' on 28DL - some amazing mansions there with huge back stories.
I spend a good chunk of my evenings on there!

@Purpleseaside just looked up Baron Hill mansion. Wow! If I ever go back to the area I must try and find it!

Following this.
I'd be too scared myself but like to watch on line.
I like swimming pools and theme parks. The abandoned Disney park is interesting

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 04/02/2022 17:52

And j like the tours around pripyat
Its not nice to see anyone who is disrespectful of places and I did hear a sad story of people who were 'urban explorers'and kept going into a cottage but the lady was still living there just in hospital and the family found her home online Sad
That's why I like the theme park ones. I also dont like the fake staging of rooms etc

Many years ago, in the 1997/98, I was walking with a friend through London, I think it was somewhere in west London. There was a completely abandoned hospital and the ward still had beds and all sorts of hospital paraphernalia. It was really weird. I wanted to go in and explore but my friend was worried that it wasn't safe it probably wasn't so we just walked on. It looked like something from another era.
