Foot in mouth moments

Please, people, make me feel I’m not alone in having embarrassing foot in mouth moments. Today I bumped into someone I chat to and have coffee with when I see them around but otherwise wouldn’t call a friend. In the past she’s always had her Dalmatian with her, and I always make a great fuss of her. Today, no dog so I asked cheerily where she was. Answer - shed been put to sleep a few weeks ago. I felt awful, even though there was no way I could have known.

What foot in mouth moments have you had?

After watching a friend in a play, we were having a drink afterwards in the bar, and she pointed out an old school friend. I said " Oh, yes, that's her, next to that weird- looking guy with the fifties haircut! " She said coldly : "That's my brother."
