Getting a photo taken in TIFF/RAW format?

Is it overkill? I'm applying for a job online with an acting agency and they specified that I they'd like a high resolution lossless image. The options they accept are .png, .tiff, and .raw.

I've talked to a friend who says that a tiff would be way too big.

They’re tricky, not small ipad or phone friendly. In often have to use the on my desktop computer, they take more time to load and process than Jpegs, etc
But they are lossless, and can’t degrade or be compressed. So you are talking higher quality enlargements and a prerequisite for serious photographic art.

PNG is a bit simpler, takes less time to process, but ensures the image has a background that can be removed (in my experience it is used for design and having a blank background for a T-shirt, or decal for instance.

Not sure why an acting agency would require them though.

Most decent digital dale’s wuold do them but not an iPhone!

Go with .raw but you'll need a dslr camera to take the photo

Sorry, ipad keyboard.

Most digital DSLR’s would do them. But I think to get a PNG you need software.

Sorry again, a dslr is a ‘digital single lens reflex’ camera - so basically a ‘proper’ camera not a phone or tiny snapper. One of those with a detachable lens.

You can take raw photos on an iPhone/android. Google how to as it depends what version you have. I tried it recently and it works.
