I have absolutely nothing planned Valentines weekend

I'm on my own and usually have a full social calendar at weekends.

Last weekend I went to a sports event on Saturday, then a party in the evening. On Sunday I went into London with friends for a show.

This weekend, I have a full day and evening out with a friend planned on Saturday and a hike with a group on Sunday.

Nothing at all planned for next weekend. I feel like treating my solitary self to something lovely. WWYD?

I'm on my own? Hmm What I should have said is I'm happily single. I don't want a Valentines thing, it's just that everyone else seems to be occupied that weekend, so I have a weekend to myself.

Nothing? I don't think valentines weekend is an event in the UK. I've got DH, but we won't be celebrating it, love is about more than 1 day, love for us is about getting through the rough times and still being there for each other, love is about being there for your friends through the parties, but also for the hangovers the next day too.

In the kindest possible way, valentines day is a load of rubbish made up to sell tat.

Oh right sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking. If you are looking for ideas to do things then how about making an involved fancy meal? Maybe sushi, or baking a babka?

Take a nice long bath, go the cinema?

Kstormtrooper · 02/02/2022 19:21

Men. I don't have anything planned either and I've got a husband.

You don't need to celebrate the torture and death of someone who performed illegal marriages if you chòose not to.

I don't plan or want to celebrate anything, just to fill a free weekend.

If I had a weekend to myself I'd go for a long run, cafe/bookshop for a new book and tea/cheese scone, maybe go and see a film or watch dinnerladies whilst eating my favourite foods, wander round a museum or exhibition, write/draw/paint.

A rare free weekend. ..

And? Can’t you just do lots of things you like? I took 3 days off last week to do things I enjoy, alone.

Went to a spa for a day and had my favourite takeaway. Next day went for a beach walk, lunch at my favourite cafe, got my nails done, saw a show and then had drinks at posh hotel. Final day, new exhibition, sushi lunch, window shopping and then roller disco.

BeetyAxe · 02/02/2022 19:29

Go to the cinema, nothing better!

Yes, of course I can. I was just asking for ideas.

I’m alone every weekend Confused

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 02/02/2022 19:32

Someone will suggest a lovely crisp walk in a minute, mark my wordles.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 02/02/2022 19:36

If you're normally pretty busy, would you appreciate a chilled weekend, reading & music & food? Or a weekend sorting out your shelves, clothes and home and actually organising getting things to recycling banks and food banks and drop off points?

Do you have a garden or pots to get ready?

Opus17 · 02/02/2022 19:58

Reading with coffee, binging a netflix series, cinema with popcorn, a long hike, working on a hobby, something needing done in the house.

Roseandgeranium · 02/02/2022 20:02

If I had a completely free weekend on my own I’d either visit a friend or relative I haven’t seen for a long time or take myself off to Amsterdam or Antwerp for a mini break. Loads of super museums and things, and great places to drink hot chocolate (or beer).

StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 02/02/2022 20:12

I'd buy a sourdough loaf and have toast and poached eggs for breakfast.

I'd definitely have a solo cinema trip. Haven't been since pre Covid and solo cinema trips are always better than going with someone. Pack a couple of fave snacks and M&S cocktails in a can.

I might pop to a secondhand book shop for a bit of a browse

I'd have a massive pad thai delivered for my dinner

I'd have a bath and then lounge on the sofa watching a film or some lovely trash

On the Sunday I'd roast a chicken

Might get some gel on my toes

Or a massage! Bloody love a massage

I don't think people are listing what they do regularly, rather what they would do IF they had free time.

I haven't had a weekend to myself for 15 years.

gindreams · 04/02/2022 09:20

Ohhh take an air B and B online cooking class for something delicious
