Reasonable explanation to where my period is

lazylockdowner · 02/02/2022 13:41

I'm always regular 28 days occasionally 29

Last period was 2nd Jan and I did have sex unprotected on 15th, stupid I know but figured at nearly 43 I would be ok

So period still isn't here, I did test yesterday and negative (was early evening so not morning wee)

I've had my covid jabs and booster and they have never effected my period

Could I just be starting to go through the menopause

Possible but probably best to do another pregnancy test in a few days.

Babymamamama · 02/02/2022 13:46

Peri menopause?

Alfixn · 02/02/2022 13:49

It may just be your cycle getting erratic at this stage.

But you did sex at the best/worst! possible time to get pregnant, tbh. In your early 40's you can get super fertile and/or ovulate at odd times too, so please be very careful in the next few years if you don't want to get pregnant.

For now I'd say test every 2nd day, FMU, and don't use digitals, they're crap. Take folic acid daily if you're not using protection.

I had a dc at 43.2..

lazylockdowner · 02/02/2022 13:56

I haven't had any signs I'm going through the peri menopause snd in my family we are all very late 50 ish it seems

I know it was a mistake but figured I'm not in my 20's anymore and I wouldn't get pregnant so easily

My last baby was 7 years ago and that was a accident

I'm only just in a very new relationship so this isn't ideal

You aren't going to be reliably 'ok' for ages though.
Chances reduce, yes, but not to anywhere near reliable levels.

Given that you've had an accidental pregnancy before, you're probably a particularly fertile person who can't afford to take risks.

itwasntaparty · 02/02/2022 14:13

Test first thing tomorrow, you're not reliably ok and have already had an 'accident' baby.

You've had unprotected sex in what was is likely to be your ovulation period.

What test did you do today? You need another one!

lazylockdowner · 02/02/2022 14:29

It was a first response so guessing if I was that it would of come up

I’m peri menopausal. Mine are off and on. And one lasted for a whole year. So it could be. But if u have no other symptoms I would be testing again. I’m 46. But I wouldn’t have unprotected sex yet

Talipesmum · 02/02/2022 16:03

Better do another few tests in the morning - good luck…

DueyCheatemAndHow · 02/02/2022 16:07

I'm always bang on time. Then this month a week... no period... 12 days I got my period. On day 11 I came down with covid.

I swear it's linked!!

LolliSm1 · 02/02/2022 16:07

I was due on the 1st and also had unprotected sex on the 15th (must of been something in the air!) and I ended up pregnant - just a heads up that you were most likely ovulating around the time! Xx

Of January*

I have another 1st response test but think I should leave it a day or so as yesterdays was negative. I'm guessing I'm probably not pregnant as it says it detects from 6 days before your period is due

There is just no sign of period at all at the moment

They aren’t really that reliable that soon before a period though.

I don’t think getting pregnant at 43 is such a difficultly; it’s carrying the baby to term due to the increased likelihood of miscarriage or chromosome abnormalities.

Theunamedcat · 02/02/2022 16:22

Everytime I've been pregnant I've always felt like I was about to have my period

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 02/02/2022 16:27

I'm guessing you're pregnant.

You're 42 and had unprotected sex.🤷‍♀️

picklemewalnuts · 02/02/2022 16:28

Two reasonable explanations then- brewing Covid, or pregnant.

FelicityBeedle · 02/02/2022 16:28

Most reasonable explanation is down the back of the sofa, have you checked?

YouCantTourniquetTheTaint · 02/02/2022 16:29

I don't know where my period is either!! I don't have a regular cycle, but it's never this long, I know I'm not pregnant because I'm pretty sure you need to have sex to get pregnant and I have cobwebs Hmm

My last one started on the 16th December, I've had pmt for 3 weeks, including panic attacks, anxiety attacks, my ADHD is worse, my depression and anxiety is worse, I feel like I'm wading through treacle.

I had my third covid jab a couple of weeks ago, I can't remember if I have read something that links the two, or if I dreamed it Confused

Nontransfer · 02/02/2022 16:32

I'm 51 and still having regular as clockwork periods so I'm not having unprotected sex. I'm going to say you're almost certainly pregnant.

gogohm · 02/02/2022 16:32

My cycle started going a bit erratic from your age, this could mean two things, one it's just late, or two you did get pregnant but it's not far along enough

Bypassed21 · 02/02/2022 16:33

This same situation happened to me couple of years ago. I was 47 at the time. I had a very late period - like 3 weeks late. I'd had sex but it was protected in my case. I was panicking thinking I might be pregnant - worrying myself sick.
I did about 3 pregnancy tests spaced a few days apart and they were all negative thank goodness (well it was thank goodness for me anyway) Then I came on eventually about 21/23 days late in the end.

Anyway - turns out this sort of thing is totally normal for "women of our age"

I wouldn't totally discount the possibility you MAY be pregnant and do another test in a day or two (don't wait ages obvs) Chances are though its just a missed period. Good Luck

Doggydreaming · 02/02/2022 16:38

Errr...the most likely explanation is that you are pregnant but it's too early to be picked up on a test.
