When Dd was about two she said to my Mum ‘I think my Mummy really likes you.’ My Mum told me she said it, and yes I do really like my Mum - and Dad.

My 4 year old told me I had a lovely squishy tummy one day as he snuggled down on me on the sofa. It’s true, it’s very squishy, makes the perfect pillow for him to snuggle up.

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/02/2022 12:37

DD put her hands on my cheeks and said “mum you’re too beautiful and the light of my life”.

She also said I had a pretty neck which was dry and pale Grin

Lots of lovely things tbh! A few stand out. One January I got a bargain in the sales, long suede coat and I got a hat with some fake fur trim to go with it . Toddler ds declared I looked like a lovely sheep.
I took the hat back.. The coat never held the esteem I had hoped for either!
Once told his older db I loved him and he stood smiling. I said he could say something nice to me if he wanted to.
So he said Thank You!!
Teen dd who is at the frankly bloody awful stage one told me (when I enquired at late 40's was I too old for a hair band) told me I would never be too old to wear whatever I wanted!!

I'm nervous about going swimming with my kids because I'm considerably fatter than I feel in my head (if that makes sense!)

I told my daughter and she said, It's ok mummy, you're just like our fat cat and he's adorable! Just swim and forget what you look like!

Mammyloveswine · 02/02/2022 13:37

I put a dress on and my 6 year old told me "you dont look like a mammy you look like a beautiful princess"

Camomila · 02/02/2022 13:38

I remember DS1 aged about 3 or 4 being so happy when he realised he had a grandma and grandpa. He saw my parents all the time apart from in lockdown, but because we used the Italian words nonna and nonno for them he didn't make the connection until he knew nonna was my mum and nonno was my dad.

Witsend234 · 02/02/2022 13:48

My 5yo told me my voice sounded just like the lady on the “real song” in the car whilst singing along to his Disney soundtrack.

I also overheard him telling his apprehensive best friend, who was here for some emergency childcare, not to worry because his mummy was super kind.

I wish he could stay this little and innocent!

I grabbed my son (9) for a quick hug last night and he totally fell into it and just rested against me for a while, then said, almost to himself 'that's exactly what I needed, a Mummy cuddle' and I may have had something in my eye...

KitBumbleB · 02/02/2022 13:54

When DD was around 3 she loudly announced to her entire nursery class that she loved my reindeer pants....shame it was in July...

Amirite · 02/02/2022 13:56

My 5yo DD told me that she’d really miss me when I am dead! Grin

CarrieMoonbeams · 02/02/2022 14:03

I don't have DC, but am honorary granny to my friend's wee girl. She's 3 and the cutest wee thing ever. She said that she loves my hair because it's "messy like bisgetty".

user94747295 · 02/02/2022 14:14

I got made up to go out one day and when I walked in the room my 5 year old
Gasped and said wow you are a beautiful princess 🥰

Patty101 · 02/02/2022 14:16

This is going to be a good thread, I can tell already.

My 4 yr old told me "Mummy, I love you so much my eyes are going to burst!"

And when I'd been ill in bed for a few days he said, "don't worry mummy, you're still beautiful, even when you look like that!" Erm, thanks. I think. He comes out with loads of these, I'm sure I'll remember some more later.

Missmonkeypenny · 02/02/2022 14:19

My 7 year old came home with this last week which made me cry!

What nice innocent comments have your children said to you or about you?
TheAnswerIsDontThinkAboutIt · 02/02/2022 14:20

I LOVE the "lovely sheep" comment Grin

My ds (must have been age 4-6 or so) once asked me why I was putting makeup on when I was "already beautiful". He's always been my biggest fan. Still wanders over for random hugs at 13.

Shutupyoutart · 02/02/2022 14:26

Littlest dd (2) the other day said your so cute mummy 😁

CarrotCakeMuffins · 02/02/2022 14:26

This morning DS age 7 asked me if I was born in 1906....

seekinglondonlife · 02/02/2022 14:31

Ds (when he was about 12) told me he would probably cry if I died. Followed it up with saying if the cat died he'd definitely cry. He's a very non emotional person so I took it as a compliment.

deeplyrooted · 02/02/2022 14:34

I put on a face mask - the kind where you smear clay all over your face and dd (who was 2) exclaimed “you look so beautiful”. I’m not sure she knew what that word meant but I was taking the compliment anyway.

MangoLipstick · 02/02/2022 14:36

My 2.4 year old says ‘You can do it mummy, you’re super mummy’ when I’m trying to fix something/having trouble doing something.

She also puts her hand on my cheek when she’s dropping off to sleep and just looks at me for a while and smiles. It always gives me a happy heart.

IglesiasPiggl · 02/02/2022 14:38

Not so much nice but still very cute. My 6 year old DS got to meet an elderly celebrity. He was so excited and said to him "I'm so lucky I got to meet you before you die"!

Eileen101 · 02/02/2022 14:39

Ah this is going to be a brilliant thread.

At my youngest's christening, my eldest told me I looked like a beautiful princess. I had actual make up on, it's a rare occasion.

The other day, with a small amount of exasperation, I asked if I could not have a shadow for a minute so I could use the toilet (both DC were very clingy over the weekend, yet their father was home all weekend). The eldest said "but mummy I need to be with you because I love you!" This was the first time he has said that, ever.

My strapping 6’3” teenage DS gave me an impromptu cuddle coz he knew I was upset and needed one coz my Mum (his Gran) is very, very unwell. He gives the best hugs and is always so ready with them

Valkyrie40 · 02/02/2022 14:41

I asked teen Dd if she thought I was too old at 40 for braces (on my teeth!) and she said "whatever you do you make it look cool and trendy mum, so no"!

It meant the world to me!

And teen ds asked me to make him a cup of cocoa which I did and when I took it in to him gave me a hug and said "you're the best mum ever, love you".

Sometimes the small things like that just mean so much.
