Marks & Spencers - what do you love?

I usually do the bi-weekly food shop at Morrisons or Tesco with little too ups at Tesco express / co op.

Once every few months I'll treat us to an M&S food shop. I just love their food, it is more expensive, but I find their quality so much better.

I haven't been in such a long time, so I was wondering if anybody had anything to recommend / try?

Non-fussy family of 3 + house bunny with normal eating habits (if there's such a thing)

Basically - just tell me your M&S all time faves / hidden gems!

You'll have to show us your haul @MacauliflowerCulkin

The cheese bread from the bakery is amazing with cold real butter.
The truffled cauliflower cheese is incredible too and I love the Mexican churros. Gotta give it to M&S, it’s taken some knocks but it keeps trying!

CrimbleCrumble1 · 02/02/2022 17:39

SandysMam my family is addicted to that bread.

Chocolate chip cookies, only around 60p a packet but really nice. Melt in the moth.

OneMoreTimeThen · 02/02/2022 17:59

Chocolate marshmallow things- like Tunnocks but way better
Cheese straws
Veggie lasagnes
Breaded chicken tenders 3 for 10, great in wraps or as burgers
I love their little salads , there's one with mint and another with nuts and ginger soy type dressing which is delish!
Shortbread biscuits which are half covered in chocolate
Veggie pasta bake ( supposed to be a meal for two but that's debatable!)

Fresh Pesto Sauce 😋

Got the essentials and the used this thread as a bit of a list to try new bits.

I managed to pick up:
Cheese scones
Carrot and swede crushed mash
Broccoli cheese
Creamed spinach
Gastropub fish pie x2
Green Olive ciabatta rolls (last one on the shelf they seem popular!)
4 crunch granola
Vegan cauli popcorn
Lemon and lime curd yogurt
Best ever Mac cheese
Chicken shawarma
Choc orange mini rolls
Cauliflower rice pouch
Freezer bits from the vegan range
Lovely fresh salmon and cod loins
100% natural peanut butter
Cornish gold butter
Yogurt and strawberry rice cakes
Veggie lasagnes
Fresh pesto sauce

Lots from this list thank you everyone!

We’ve bought tonnes of fresh lovely fruit and veggies, quinoa and pulses to keep us healthy. Also the tutti fruitti grapes are amazing!!!
If anyone is wondering why I'm so excited about this shop, I've been getting repeat Morrisons and tescos deliveries for so long. I’ve been so stuck in this house on and off for 4 years after having cancer and treatment (no pitty party I’m all clear here!) and had my 5th and final surgery on 14th Jan so I was so excited to get out and try new foods after my tastes buds are returning to somewhat normal!

We have the gastropub fish pie for tea with a side salad. Yum!

Thank you all for your suggestions :)

Love their honey roast ham crisps ( the reduced fat version is better as it's ridged!) Also, absolutely adore the coffee and walnut buttercream cake - as good/ better than homemade. Honey roast smoked(?) salmon also delicious, but pricey.

Quirrelsotherface · 02/02/2022 20:30

Their super nutty low fat hazelnut yoghurt which I've just consumed Grin seriously one of the few yoghurts I actually enjoy.

DS loves the churro's. The chocolate squirty cream is to die for, almond biscuits, chocolate roll, their baguettes are the nearest to actual french bread. The curry boxes are a great fake away.

Bananas and fruit / salad mostly always fresh and last.

Love your update of what you bought @MacauliflowerCulkin !! Sounds like you’ll be eating well for a while 🤘🏼 And you’ve beat cancer! Amazing ☺️
I’ve started slimming world so can’t indulge at the moment but when I’ve lost a stone I think I’ll have a marks shop treat, and will deffo be buying all the vegan range, as well as the Cornish butter for their boule toasted 💜💜

Thank you!😁

They had so much in their vegan freezer range! We're trying to cut down on red meat and eat more fish / vegan versions of things.

Tonight we've got the chicken shawarma (or whatever it's called)
We're lucky we've got a huge M&S about a mile away it's so tempting to go in and buy all the treats!
Good luck on your slimming world journey!

Their skinless, boneless chicken thighs - esp. when 3 packs for a tenner.
Much better than breasts for all sorts, inc. barbecues.

In summer, it’s a short season, but their big packs of luscious UK grown fat black cherries.

timtam23 · 03/02/2022 17:54

Agree the summer packs of cherries are amazing.
Portuguese custard tarts from the in-store bakery - no idea if they're authentic but I think they're the nicest of any (and I have tried lots of different Portuguese custard tarts!)
