Does this sound dodgy to you?

I am selling an (expensive) item on a Facebook group. Someone has contacted me wanting to buy it.

They say that a Fedex guy will turn up at my house and give me cash, and then a courrier will come and pick it up.

Does that sound right? Is that a legit thing that Fedex do?

I am a bit concerned because they've changed their profile pic to the photo of my item (so I can't see who they are).

No it's a scam. Block them.

Well known scam.

Classic scam. Block.

No. Sounds like a scam.

Thanks all. I thought it sounded a bit iffy but I am desperate for the money so don't want to lose a real buyer. But not worth the risk!

Scam I fell for it, luckily hadn't given my home address or any details out but duh did wait a half an hour at a storage facility for the courier to arrive!
(I don't really understand the scam still tbh)

OK I've googled - definitely a scam, phew!

How does the scam actually work? Surely if the 'fed ex' guy doesn't give you the cash then you just don't hand it over?
