Hi, my husband are are looking to move to Hemel to start our family. We need somewhere with good/outstanding schools and good local amenities. What areas in Hemel meet these requirements and are safe and affordable to live in?

We are open to surrounding areas too if anyone can suggest any that fit the requirements.

Thanks,
D

We're past primary school age so I'm not sure of Ofsted ratings any more - you'd have to check online - but nicest areas I'd say are Boxmoor (near train station, Boxmoor/South Hill/St Roses RC primary, Hemel Hempstead School for secondary, all well thought of); Apsley (has its own station, near canal, Two Waters primary & either Hemel or Kings Langley secondary depending where you live); or Leverstock Green, convenient for St Albans, but I'm not sure of nearest schools. There are nicer places nearby eg Berkhamsted or St Albans, but they're much more expensive. Feel free to pm me if you like.

Depends on your budget. Boxmoor is expensive and the primary school is still single form entry with most of the reception taken by siblings. The Hemel Hempstead School is taking more in but if you haven't even started a family yet, things can change over time.
