A week or so ago I knocked my funny bone. Didn’t think much more of it. Anyway, my elbow has been getting increasingly painful - it feels like if you had a scab on a joint, when you bend it it stretches tight, but there is no scab or broken skin. It hurts when I bend my arm or rest on it.
Anyway, rang 111 today and went up and had an X-ray. The (very nice) nurse said there was no break or fracture, but that there may be a line on the bone, but that wasn’t showing when the X-ray was a different colour. She said she’d send it away for a report and I’d be contacted in a couple of days if there was anything wrong. She was going to give me a sling for a couple of days but decided against because I’ve still got movement in my arm.
Anyway, came home and it’s got even worse and more painful. I’m really worried that there is a fracture which was what this line was, and me moving it is making it worse. I have wound myself up by googling it and seeing horror stories of hairline fractures causing permanent damage when not treated.
Can any medical people put my mind at rest? Will moving my arm make it worse if it is fractured? And if there’s nothing on the X-ray and it keeps getting worse, how long do I leave it before going back? The pain is really getting very painful.
