Gonna be ordering in the next 20 minutes… I always get the same thing! Salt and pepper chips and peking chicken slivers.

Hangover recovery day and looking for inspiration!

Crispy spiced squid, Singapore noodles, spiced king prawn, crispy beef with chilli. Not all together! Themes with spice & crispyness.

I realise that any/all of these dishes aren’t known in China or elsewhere in Asia but they are so good!

Mylee · 30/01/2022 18:31

Used to be sweet and sour chicken balls, but our local takeaway recently started doing mixed boxes so we always have that.
They come with salt & chilli chicken, salt & pepper chips, bbq ribs, chicken balls, chilli chicken wings, spring rolls and fried rice. Anything out of that selection is always really good! I think every Chinese should do themGrin

Sweet and sour chicken
Yung chow fried rice
Pork and chicken vermicelli
Beef and mushrooms.
Prawn crackers.
Salt and pepper chips.

All in the middle of the table for us all to share. Apart from the chips, as only the dc like them.

wendz86 · 30/01/2022 19:02

Crispy chilli beef with plain chowmein

  • I don’t eat all of this! Dh and I share the squid and the pancakes and I generally only have half the beef and noodles (and save the next half for the day after!)
WeAllHaveWings · 30/01/2022 19:05

Strips of beef in a hot peking sauce (with matchstick thin slices of carrot, onion and chilli). The beef is gorgeous and tender, flash fried, then sliced so charred on the outside and slightly pink in the middle.

Plump82 · 30/01/2022 19:06

Our Chinese has rubbish veggie options so I get fried rice and a portion of sweet and sour sauce and i cook so quorn nuggets to have with it.
Before I was vegetarian it was always crispy shredded beef. Oh i miss it!

Downtherefordancing · 30/01/2022 19:12

Singapore rice noodles … I actually think I’m addicted to them 😊

Theglums · 30/01/2022 19:15

S&s chicken and ball sauce
Fried rice

Cosywosy · 30/01/2022 19:20

Breast of chicken curry
Chow mein
Breast of chicken fried rice (with gravy)

Plus prawn crackers

One of the above. Pretty boring but it's what I like. Don't like the just chicken versions, not sure if it's thigh but don't like the texture.

liveforsummer · 30/01/2022 19:23

Chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce
Garlic chilli squid
Duck pancakes
Chips
special fried rice
King prawn chow mien or other noodle dish
Malaysian beef curry
Shred between dc and I - top hangover fodder.

WhiteXmas21 · 30/01/2022 19:24

Honey chilli chicken
King prawns with black bean sauce
Salt & Pepper soft shell crabs
Egg Fried Rice
Singapore Noodles

Not all at once, but now I am wondering why?…

TurquoiseDragon · 30/01/2022 19:34

DD and I will often have:
Crispy shredded beef
Battered pork balls with sweet and sour sauce
Either lemon chicken, or chicken with oyster and spring onion
Special fried rice.
Duck spring rolls
Sesame Prawn toast

We also get free prawn crackers, which I like eating by dipping in the sweet and sour sauce.

And DS has a huge tub of chicken chow mein all to himself. We give him the prawns from the rice.

StrawberrySanta · 30/01/2022 19:34

Egg fried rice
Salt & pepper chips
Curry sauce
Can't beat it. sometimes add some chicken balls

Dontlickthetrolley · 30/01/2022 19:53

Tasty and cheap! Great for single parents who children aren't keen!

FluffyBooBoo · 30/01/2022 19:54

It's the only way I eat beef, I don't like it any other way

Crispy shredded chilli beef
Egg fried rice

I also like a veg satay or a veg Chinese curry.

liveforsummer · 30/01/2022 19:57

I'd like that for when dc are at their dads although I'd appreciate a little half portion of a main dish too rather than just a sauce. There will be sauce with the chicken balls anyway I assume
PieonaBarm · 30/01/2022 20:58

Singapore Noodles and Curry Sauce. Yum!
