Period pants- anyone use them?

Hi everyone, I’m wanting to make a more eco friendly decision when it comes to period. I like the idea of period pants, has anyone used them? Does anyone have any recommendations on brands as well?

I know cheeky wipes do some for a reasonable price but unsure if they are any good?!

Yes! They are fab. I use modibodi

Hugasauras · 29/01/2022 22:10

I use Cheeky Wipes ones and really like them. Have had no issues! I have pretty average flow I think and have never had any leaks.

Bearwiththehairs · 29/01/2022 22:10

Wuka. Their ones for a very heavy flow are expensive but fantastic.

Modibodi is what I use, and would reccomend. I have several packs as peri menopause and randomly bleed.

MistyFrequencies · 29/01/2022 22:16

Modibodi I'd highly recommend. Wearing their 24hr ones right now, life changing. I have very heavy flow, like a super tampon per hour some days, and these pants hold it all, no leaks.

11plusName · 29/01/2022 22:16

Have only used the ones from Primark and I’m very happy with them.

I’m 51 and expect it will end soon… that’s why I haven’t invested on more expensive ones.

itsmeagainagain · 29/01/2022 22:20

I have some cheeky wipes ones but find them uncomfortable although they do the job I don’t teach for them much I find the rise uncomfortable and they dig in. I got a pair in primark a few months ago for a fiver and they are fab I plan on buying some more. I don’t have very heavy periods though but they’re so comfy!

WoolyMammoth55 · 29/01/2022 22:20

Got M&S heavy flow ones in December and they are as fab as I'd hoped.

Zero leaks. I have 4 pairs and can use them each once for the heavy first days and then use washable pads on normal pants for the light days.

My only concern is that they are very synthetic (not surprising!) so not at all breathable - that's why I won't wear them longer than a few days in a row. But they are great and definitely a gamechanger!

NichyNoo · 29/01/2022 22:21

I have some M&S ones and some Primark ones. I have light to medium flow - 8 pairs are enough for my period (one pair during the day and one at night). They work brilliantly - like having a super absorbant sanitary towel that you don’t need to change.

SonicBroom · 29/01/2022 22:24

What are they like at night? Do they move a lot? I’m so over the awful feeling you get from damp / ill fitting pads at night.

Also, how about with eg sports? And swimming… are they at least discreet to take off in changing rooms or really obvious? I swim a lot and am need to be comfortable doing quick change in front of people (with a towel)

SonicBroom · 29/01/2022 22:26

Also - sorry for personal questions. Do the tops feel dry???

ByMyName · 29/01/2022 22:28

I used the modibodi ones pre pregnancy. They are really good.

I usually have 1-2 nights of (TMI) extremely heavy flow and on occasions I have leaked when using night pads. The pants absorb the lot and contain it.

wheresmymojo · 29/01/2022 22:31

Yes, love them.

I buy Dorina via ASOS as they're much cheaper than brands like Modibodi and Thinx.

Repetitivebeats · 29/01/2022 22:32

I have some Wuka ones and have to say, I don't love them.
Firstly, I find them quite bulky. Also, they don't last the whole day, so I find myself having to change mid afternoon. I mostly work home so it's doable but it's just a faff having to do a complete change. Finally, the synthetic fabric is not very breathable and I ended last period with a bout of thrush.
They can be useful on days then you're not sure if you're going to come on (I have a coil so can have a few days of spotting before my period starts properly) but I still prefer to use tampons or reusable pads as my main source of protection

BeautifulTulips · 29/01/2022 22:32

DD loves them. She has a heavy flow and finds that modibodi are by far the best for that. She's tried cheeky wipes, Sainsbury's and Primark ones but modibodi are the winners. If you have a lighter flow the cheaper ones might be fine, but for heavy flow I think you get what you pay for

LoveMae · 29/01/2022 22:34

I really like the modibodi 24 hour ones, I have the heaviest flow ever and always soak my bed overnight despite enormous tampons, and I haven't leaked once since I switched to them.

I will say though, it has taken some getting used to, literally feeling blood trickle out of you Envy

Mykittensmittens · 29/01/2022 22:34

I have a few types as I’ve been using for as long as they’ve been available.

Loveluna at sainsbruys are pretty good - okay for days 1 & 4/5 no issues I’d rate them over cheaper ones

Modibodi for me are the better hardcore ones.

You can’t tumble dry and they take an age on an airer and really need a radiator. If you don’t fully dry they’ll ruin and go stinky

You can’t use fabric softener either but a slosh of dettol laundry cleaner helps them smell fresh.

Overnight modibodi are good as the absorbent panel goes all the way up the back.

hedgehogger1 · 29/01/2022 22:36

My DD has them and gets on really well. I use a mooncup with reusable pads as back up

EssexLioness · 29/01/2022 22:40

Yes I use Cheeky Wipes ones and love them. Very comfy and do the job. I used to find disposable pads would leave me sore sometimes but these are great. I also use their reusable pads sometimes too which imlike

Thevoiceofreason2021 · 29/01/2022 22:42

I love period knickers / I’ll never go back to tampons. I wish we had them when I was a teenager. I have Modi body, M&S and Wuka. M&S are the cheapest and very comfy - however 2 pairs have fallen apart at the seams! Wuka are comfy, comes up a little big and very stretchy but synthetic. Modi body are the most expensive - however their pad is made of wool not synthetic material. The knicker design and cloth is much better quality than the others and they wash really well. The only down side is they take sn age to dry and they don’t have much give in the fabric. I ve had a look at other brands - looking for a UK or Europe made knicker but they all seem to be made in China 😩

HalfBrick · 29/01/2022 22:43

I use them with moon up, on their own I felt its like having a damp pad. For me modibodi were cut too high/too stiff, I leak out of the sides. Cheeky wipes have a better fuller arse shape - I don't have a huge arse, just like coverage!

sofakingcool · 29/01/2022 22:43

I've got a couple of Primark ones, I wish I'd found them years ago

I've always had heavy periods and prone to flooding - I ruin bedding/clothing most months BlushSad. Since I bought myself some period pants a few months ago, I've not leaked once! I don't use them alone, always with a pad, but they are brilliant, hold the pad nicely in place and no leaks at all.

My only criticism of the Primark ones is the material, makes me feel a bit sweaty, so id really like to treat myself to some nicer ones

SonicBroom · 29/01/2022 22:45

*You can’t tumble dry and they take an age on an airer and really need a radiator. If you don’t fully dry they’ll ruin and go stinky

They sound a bit hard work to look after … I’d that right and if so is it worth it v tampons and pads???

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/01/2022 22:45

I have wuka, modi bodi , cheeky wipes, and iceni.

I mainly use fir cup back up .

Cheeky wipes, not bad fir the money tbh. A little on the plasticy side

Modi bodi, the slimmest and work well.

Wuka slightly on the bulky side but work

Iceni- the thickest of them all. The over night ones are good. Absorbancy panel all up the back.

Overall as skeptical as I was I'm glad I have them although I am only testing them on their own at home. I've yet to use them fully alone on heaviest days.

I cant speak highly enough of these more eco friendly options. No rashes or itching. Periods are no longer something I dread. Thanks to MN and their constant period pant/cup/reusable pads recommendations. I love all 3

AdultCat · 29/01/2022 22:46

Sorry to ask possibly a stupid question....!
But, how often do you need to change them? I like the idea these, but a 10hr shift at work would be a nightmare trying to change underwear.
Do you still feel 'clean' wearing them too?
Sorry to hijack your thread, it's just the first time I've seen a post for these!
