"Just drink more water" isn't viable!!

I feel like I'm missing something here. Everyone is told that they should be drinking more water for their health, but every time I do it I end up running back and forth to the loo every 20 minutes. I can literally only drink an "adequate" amount of water when I'm sure to be at home for the entire day. I've always had a weak bladder but it really is ridiculous and some of my friends experience the same thing. Am I doing something wrong?!

5 large glasses daily is my daily consumption. I have to push myself to achieve it. If I have to go out shopping I make sure I do not drink beforehand or I will have to come home after an hour in the cold this time of year.

lots of vegetables especially salad have a lot of water in them.

So does meat. Humans are 60% water.

I don't drink tea or coffee but I do drink soft drinks throughout the day which I know is bad for me, especially my teeth, so decided to have a rule at work that I can only have a soft drink once I've drunk 500ml of water. I've only been doing it a week but definitely noticed a lot more loo breaks!! (And I'm not drinking more liquid, it's just plain water rather than a fizzy drink)

I have interstitial cystitis which most urologists admit they have no clue about so I’ve spent a lot of time researching bladders!

I wouldn't worry too much about coffee, as though caffeine is a bit of a diuretic, you're only going to be potentially excreting an extra small fraction of that fluid volume in the coffee. Your body has some very good mechanisms to regulate what it needs.
