Mine is bars of unscented soap from (predictably) Aldi, and also Waitrose own salt and vinegar crisps.

What gems are in your life?

Aldi Moser Roth 85% chocolate. It's so dark and smooth, melts deliciously in your mouth, packed in perfectly sized little bars for a treat. Other chocolate just doesn't compare now. I buy it every week!

Disappointed that Imperial leather is wrapped in plastic.

exaltedwombat · 29/01/2022 19:13

Almost everything.

pastypirate · 29/01/2022 19:15

Place marking so I don't lose the thread.

Until I think of more - buying nappy bags instead of dog poo bags. They are like 29p for a hundred and about 75% cheaper than dog bags and they smell nice.

Hankunamatata · 29/01/2022 19:16

Tesco xero cola. Tastes just as good as brand and its 50p

Frozen green beans. Hate frozen beg but was recommended on here and they really are just as nice as fresh. Same with pre chopped frozen onion, incredibly handy

Lindylindyloo · 29/01/2022 19:23

Lacura caviar face products from Aldi

GinPin2 · 29/01/2022 19:34

A potato masher that is moulded out of one piece of metal. Got fed up with those made of metal with a plastic top part. They would always break half way down. This purely metal one has lasted years.

@BlueFlavour

Buying a bag of frozen broccoli and some Stilton.makes lots of soup very cheaply. Just fry and onion, and whatever and add a stock cube.
Ohhhhh I need to make this immediately
pastypirate · 29/01/2022 19:35

@Vampirethriller

Oh and Poundland eyebrow pencil.
!! Need to try this
Lincslady53 · 29/01/2022 19:37

@Caramellatteplease

Cooking bacon Aldi or Tesco bio washing up liquid Morrisons value dishwasher tablets: almost exactly the same ingredients as smol Bar soaps were a bit of a disaster for us, they never dried out long enough to prevent them breaking down.
We got a cheap, £1.50ish, plastic soap dish from B and M. It has suckers that hold it in place by the taps, and the front is open and drains all the water back into the basin so the soap is never left in a puddle. It is brilliant. Looks a bit cheap, cos it is, but stops your soap going into a mush.

@GaiusHelenMohiam

Co-op own brand tonic (the full fat stuff though).

It’s good with everything from Gordon’s to a £50 craft gin. I drink/talk about gin professionally so you can take it from me.

Ohhhhh thanks for expert recommendation I will write that one down I love gin and tonic xx
SilkLabrador · 29/01/2022 19:45

Primark plain t-shirts. Mine have outlived many many more expensive brands.

sessell · 29/01/2022 19:46

I never stopped using bar soap! My DD now swears by bar shampoo.
Cooking rice - no gadgets required - just 2 X cold water to 1 X rice in a bowl in the microwave for 10 mins - perfect every time.
Aldi face creams, 85% dark chocolate, decaf coffee.
Porridge oats!

Libby21 · 29/01/2022 19:46

Primark mascara (silver with black writing) - the best I’ve EVER used and it’s only about £2.50. Makes my lashes look really lush!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/01/2022 19:46

Oil of Olay beauty fluid. 'Tis the best moisturiser
