We've been looking at 7 seaters but I think they just look like a bloody mini bus not a huge fan of how bulky they are. If you have a 5 seater do you manage ok?

Thinking of getting a bigger car but just 5 seats, I know it means we can't bring MIL and my mum out with us anymore but I can't justify getting a bigger car just for them really.

DS is 5 DD is 3 and we will have a newborn.

Forget about your DM and MIL. Do you want to be able to take a friend for your eldest on a playdate? Do you like camping or driving holidays? Which kid would you put in the middle seat in a 5 seater and can they be trusted not to hit their siblings?

Could you fit all three kids, a pram for your newborn and your supermarket shopping in the car?

We have a 5 seater. Ford C-Max to be precise. We've managed fine. We used to have double City mini and went in the boot fine along with a couple of bags of shopping.

We've always managed with a 5 seater. Children are primary age. Planning to get something bigger when the car needs replacing, as 3 teenagers in a 5 seater wouldn't be fun, but for primary age it's been fine

I have a Ford Fiesta, 2 13 year olds and a ten year old. And a husband. It works for us.

Before this I had a Zafira as all kids needed a seat. That was also fine.

Can you get all three car seats across the back in you current car?

I used to have a Citroën C4 that had 3 separate seats across the back. I loved that car, the boot was enormous!

I have 3 grown up sons and it reached the point where their shoulders wouldn't fit across the back seat. I bought a 7 seater 'minbus' and still have it over 20 years later as its been so reliable. It was really handy for separating them on long journeys too, much less squabbling if their elbows can't reach each other😂

I think there are very few 5 seaters that fit 3 car seats across the back. I have a 7 seater Citroen c4 grand. Yes I could manage the 5 seat version but the large boot comes in handy with dog and bikes.
